Default A Thanksgiving Game You'll Never See

Through the years, all this talk about EF/BB and Holiday Tradition got me thinking about starting a tradition of my own. A couple of years back, I decided to paint up a set of Throwback Cowboys and Throwback Lions so they could settle who was the best Thanksgiving Day team. Well, the teams got painted (each in their traditional home colors), but then with my Father's illness two years ago, and passing last year, there just wasn't much motivation to get the tradition started.

Well, this year was the year, and the Cowboys and Lions broke out on a vintage 620 Grass field to settle the matter for Thanksgiving 2006. Both teams were made up of a combination of BuzzBall and Haiti repro figures, basically stock with the exception of paint, decals, and facemasks. I went with the all rookie bases to harken back to the days of yesteryear, but updated them with color coordinated White and Gray Speed Diamond Bases, tweaked only enough to run smooth and relatively straight. By and large, I just wanted to be a spectator for this.

Anyway, the Lions beat the Cowboys 17-14 in the First Annual Thanksgiving Day FeltSkin Classic.

All righty Rich. I like those old style Cowboys, and you know I'm a big rookie base fan as all my teams are made with those. My idea of EF..... keep it simple, keep it clean, and keep it fun!

Rich, that is awesome, i really love the way the base color contrast's with the team colors. Sweet, easy on the eyes too. Are those two teams 11 man squads, or more? are they for sell , with bases?

great pics, too bad DALLAS lost tho'.

Thanks guys, I enjoyed myself no end, both in painting the throwback squads and then watching them do their thing. With school and all, I really don't have much time for either these days, so it was a welcome diversion.

Take care and God Bless,

Rich
