Default Question of the Day: What gets you excited about the game

I know I am a creature of habit to some extent. I love the game of miniature football. When I retire from the community, I probably still will visit the site because I know reading the post (at least some) are very interesting, intriguing, and full of soap opera type drama.

For me, that's one of the things that drive me to a site, is simply "The Hype". Another thing that gets me excited about the game is knowing there are sites that I can go to to find useful information for my MF experience.

Something else that gets me excited about the game is when others show the raw emotion and excitement of being a part of a league and enjoying the experience. I love to read about the leagues and the characters in the league.

I love to see a guy having to throw a pass with the TTQB, with defenders on his base (heavy coverage) with 10 seconds to play and he has to hit that pass in the endzone in the comforts of a miniature stadium!

I get excited when a rookie gets his first win. Just watching the joy of that coach who went through the system and took his losses like a man and bounced back to win. What an incredible high!

I get excited when I see a game moving at fast speeds. Plays taking 30-50 seconds to run and defenses being punished for their mistakes in coverage.

I love seeing the work of artisans who create custom figures, create magnificent boards, and wonderful stadiums. I get excited about the storytellers who know the history and can tell you why we've ended up at this point.

I get excited when I see an Adrian Baxter come through the ranks and win against great coaches at the TSO. I am elated when a Bryan "Benutt" Nutt comes to Texas, not expecting much, but finds himself in the championship game drenched soak and wet in perspiration capturing the TSO 2007 crown.

I get excited every time I leave my miniature football room and turn the stadium lights off of my stadiums in fast anticipation that 5-6 hours later, I will be back in that room trying to create something else.

I get excited when I get the chance to be in the company of guys who share like interest in playing the hobby. There is so much to be excited about in this game.

What gets you most excited about the game?

Reginald

I love turning a raw figure into a superstar! Watching a base I tweaked glide across the field with accuracy and the way I intended. Man thats satisfaction. Also seeing him come to life with paint and decals .
The boards and all the custom odds and ends that go with them to make them more realistic.
But more importantly its the thrill of playing against someone that you can learn from . The sportmanship and fellowship of playing against some very competitive guys.
This is not because you started this post that Im saying this either, this comes from the heart, another of the BIGGEST thrills of this game is seeing someone like you REGINALD show your work and skills to the rest of us that want to learn. Im still in kindergarten stages here where I'm working to try to get to your level , just dont know how to classify your level. Its a level or league all to youself.

Default What Excites Me

What excites me about the game is realism.

There is a feeling that I had when I played Semi Pro. The preperation for the game the week befor. Practice, class room, thinking about my assignments.

Learning what to do to counter what the other guy was going to do in the game. Knowing that the other players are thinking and reacting just like me.

I get excited about getting ready for the game, going out on the field to walk around it, run on it just to get a feel for the traction I will have.

Getting dressed for the game, pre game practice.

Then there is the game, moving countering moves, execution of the play, out thinking the guy in front of me. Understanding what my job is as a player and a coach.

Default Gameday

I play in the Mid Ohio league and on Sunday. I drive from Newport,ky to Columbus to play in a great league full of guys that have the passion and desire to win as I do. Gameday is off the hook!! I have butterflies as I get closer and closer to Columbus, every Sunday. I love the drive and it gives me time to think about how I want to play and what I want to do. These coaches are awesome and I know I have to play my best to have a shot at winning. The worst part is when I have to go home. It's dark out and I feel the day went too fast. I reflect on what my opponent did and I try to see what i could have done better. I love this league I'm in because the people in it are good people ,and I love that they want to win. Our Commish is Jeff Priest, and if you know Jeff he runs a great and honorable league. I can't wait till gameday.......
