Default Mpfl Dvd Question

This is for the coaches who have a question on the DVD. Please make them one question at a time when you post.

Don't think to hard into the instructions as this will cause you to miss understand what you see.

In each area, play along with the DVD to see it first hand. Run that area about 10 times befor going on to the next area. This will answer a lot of you're questions.

Common Question

Run Time : Take your fast player, turn the board on and time how far it takes him to run 10, or 12, or 15 yards. That is how long you let the board run befor you stop it.

3 Yard Rule : Players on the same team don't apply

20 Seconds Adjustments : You can hand the ball off, or pass, " put the Pass Placement ball down, or TTQB pass" befor your time runs out , or wait until the next stoppage.

TTQB Pass : On the TTQB pass, you must Stay on you're side of the board, ( you're side line ) and the pass must be in the air befor you're time runs out or the QB will have to keep the ball until the next stoppage.

You can't adjust the receiver after you complete a TTQB pass, no 3 yard rule on defenders after this pass is completed.

Player Falls Down: If a player falls down durring the play he must stay down for 1 stoppage.
If the runner is tackled and falls down as a result of the hit/contact, he must come out for 1 play. ( player and base ) INJURY!!

Default Shotgun Formation Question

In MPFL can the quarterback, instead of using the magnet bar or running back as a drop-back stop, line up in shotgun formation with a base magnet?

Default Ttqb

Anthony, what's the purpose for having to stay on your sideline when using the TTQB to pass? Don't most leagues and friendlies allow movement around the sides and behind the endzone for passing? I think most guys who practice passing do it from behind the intended receivers, I could be wrong though.

Your style adds another variable to the passing game, as it's supposed to be more of a football simulation yet, passing from the sideline is definitely odd and very unlike actual football.

Curious, because I posted a while ago to ask this specific question, not of you or your style, but just in general.

Default Good Question

Coaches on either team are confined to there sideline area in real football, QB's throw passes from there current position on the field.

After observation of games played I noticed that when kicking coaches stayed on there side of the field, but when it came down to passing they were given a free pass to move around to gain an advantage to complete a pass using the same figure, ( TTQB ). So how is it fair that you use the same figure but have a different rule in place for passing and kicking ?

In real football everything is done from there sidline, calling plays, coaching, etc, while the players execute the play that is called. Staying on you're side of the field speeds the game up.

Durring the game the QB is performing under pressure. He is not in control of the defensive rush.

A lot of things that were done in the current game of EF/MF have never been questioned, so in an effort to advance this hobby steps were taken to bring the feeling and understanding of the game home.

The MPFL System doesn't follow the same guidlines as EF/MF. You're not given the creature comforts of the old way of playing, thus taking one out of there comfort zone and not allowing them to rely on how well you can use a prop ( TTQB ) witch has nothing to do with coaching or player performance, but causes you to rely on actual football knowledge with the players performance.

Does the QB in real football ask the defender to move out of the way so he can have a better angle to throw the ball ? IE You moving around the game board to attempt a pass .

Does the coach in real football go any were he wants to go ? No ! He has an area that he MUST stay in.

Does the coach in real football control the game ? IE You stopping the board when a receiver comes open or to avoid a sack. No the game is under the control of the officials IE the controled stoppages of the MPFL System.

This system is set up to not just look like actual football, but to bring about feeling that come from the game, from every position on and off the field, players, coaches, and officials.

Default Thanks!

Good answer, I am sure no one will take offense. I just wanted to see what your reason was for this, that is all. One thing for sure, having just tried to complete a few passes myself from the side lines and not getting behind the endzone, it will take some practic, thats for sure.

I may spring for the DVD when I get my 308 from Reggie, heck, I have bought just about every other DVD out there right now.

Thanks again and I applaud you for your desire to keep this hobby ever evolving Anthony.
