Why Is Adrian Peterson (vikings) So Much Better Than Reggie Bush

I said that Allen averaged (about) 3.8. 4.1 is only 3/10 of a yard more but at 13 carries per game it will be very tough for Bush to raise his average.

I think that Reggie Bush is an amazing talent but it is not HIS team. The Saints have veteran players who lead the team and Bush is still learning. Bush lead his team in receptions last season with 88 and is second this year with 77 receptions. You only need to look at the stats to see that the Saints are not a running team.

Bush may have a Desmond Howard like career. Howard never really caught on either and was not the focal point. When his moment came in the Super Bowl, he knew he would never catch a pass so he took his kick return role and ran to the Super Bowl MVP.

My point is that Reggie Bush is an incredible talent but there are 45 players on the Saints and I don't feel that you can single out one player on a 6-7 football team. I personally don't see anything wrong with him but I see plenty wrong with the Saints running game.

I didn't say anything about Peterson in my post because I haven't seen any Minnesota games this season. My point is that the Saints offense isn't focusing on Bush because the running game is weak and they have no defense.

To say that Bush is soft or anything else is a matter of personal opinion and observation. I loved watching him play in college and am sure that he will eventually find his role with the Saints.

.....Hands down, I would take him a heart beat. When healthy he gives opposing defenses fits because in open space there are not a lot of people that can do what he can do. Heisman is the most outstanding player in college football Reg. However my man Vince had a great year but Reggie had a more outstanding year when it comes to what he did. Vince had a Heisman like game in the Rose Bowl don't get me wrong but the Heisman comes out before the post season and it went to the person who was supposed to win it.

Your comparing apples to oranges the Vikings have a way better seasoned line then the Saints and have been playing together longer. They signed the top guard in the league two years ago away from the Seahawks who now have no running game. Anyone that plays or have played football knows that linemen prefer run blocking more then they do pass blocking because defensive lineman can't tee off on them on a run like they can a pass play.

Vikings: Matt Birk has 5 pro bowls, Hutch has 4 pro bowls, Mckinnie is one of the top OT is the league and comes with big honors from the U and #7 overall when he was drafted.

Saints: Nothing all their linemen have been with other teams and didn't do anything with them. Nesbit reject from the Panthers, Faine reject from Browns. Brown is an up and coming OT but still young. Stinchcomb still trying to find his way.

So when you compare these two teams, it is no comparison on who has the better line. Drew Brees has a very quick release and makes his decision up quick so linemen don't have to hold their blocks that long. Passing is a better suited offense for the Saints at this time, so until they get some quality along the front they will continue to have issues running the ball. AD is a great back but let’s no crown him the best of any of the young backs yet. It is one year folks!! NFL greatness spans over many years. It also depends on competition also, remember Dallas held the young man to 6o something yards on 20 carries. Philly held the young man also. SD and Chi well those are two teams still trying to find themselves.

Give Bush A Chance 2 Proove Himself...
After all he plays for the Saints. The coaching is terrible. With all the offensive weapons they have, I know they can do better than what they have done. Why make Bush the focal point of their failures? Bush does not, and did not get the touches need last year or this year to be compared to Peterson. Peterson is prooving to be a great back. I said that the Raiders were fools to not take him first overall. At the time of making that statement, many of you on this board disagreed. Where are you now? I don't believe that a man who is 6' 225 (BUSH) is to small to carry the ball 25 times per game. Tony Dorsett was not that big, but yet he was up to the task. Eric Metcalf's career was ruined with that 3rd down back crap. Everyone who has played the game knows the the more touches you get, the better rhythm you build, learning the D you're up against and the chances of breaking one is better. If you can dominate a defense with just 13 attempts per game, then you're already a great player. Oh yeah, on the 4th & 1 in the Rose Bowl against Texas, I put it on the coach for not having Bush on the field. I think it was a bad call that reaked of arrogance. Why not have the biggest offensive threat on the field, if even as just a decoy.

....Now that is a man that really has dug deep. Give Bush sometime man to slow the game up a little. He is hitting holes too fast and not really giving his blocks a time to develop or the lack there of.

My pro team is the Cleveland Browns, and we passed on Adrian Peterson. To this day I am not sure if it was a good choice, franchise backs are hard to come by. However, we took the Wisconsin Tackle who hasn't given up a sack yet this season and as a result the Browns are in a playoff chase (somehow those two things just don't seem possible). So, the question is, did the Browns blow it, or did Joe Thomas help us more than Adrian Peterson.

By the way, I know the answer for the Raiders...BLEW IT!!! You take someone not that interested in football over someone who runs with the passion of Peterson...not good!

PS Reggie Bush is at best an average running back. Heck, he wasn't even the workhorse at USC, and Lendall White looks like a better NFL back. Mario Williams, who is having a heck of a season, might have been a good choice!

Bush was not even the main RB at USC. As Reg accurately stated he is not a pure RB in the mold that NFL backs seem fit. He is definitely not hard inside runner or even a strong cut back runner in the modern zone blocking schemes. He is an open space guy who makes people miss in the open field and the Saints have to devise schemes to more fully utilize his potential in that way. Swing passes, screens, wheel routes and the such. With a QB like Brees to get him the ball he could become a leathal weapon in their offense.
