![]() I am about to use Delta Ceramcoat Gloss and Matte Varnishes for the 1st time, but until now I have always used MM Acryl Gloss on my teams. After painting, decalling (water only! no solvaset) and Modge Podge, I would then slap on the Gloss. I have noticed that the dark color ran a lil bit, especially onto white pants, but nothing dramatic. I also used Testors Acrylic or MM Acryl paints to keep from cross-product mishaps.
*Was your paint MM or Testors? *Were the decals ruined or did they just come off? *Maybe the MM Gloss only ate the Solvaset off and not the decal itself? **And, is that custom "Windy City Flyer" pose on the squad yet? ![]() Last edited by JIMBO : 01-22-2008 at 11:57 AM. |

![]() The decals did not run. The black paint ran onto the decals. I used Delta Ceramacoat acrylic paint. The Model Master dull coat clear acrylic ate through the paint not the decals.

![]() With certain colors like blue or black , I have found that I need to seal the paint before I even apply the decals.

![]() I just noticed the other day at Hobby Lobby that Mod Podge is also made in a Matte finish.
http://www.save-on-crafts.com/modpodge10.html Have not tried it, but maybe someone has.

![]() The decals are already sealed to the figure. I am chalking it up to experience. Costly mistake. In the future I am going to either Modge Podge the figure before decaling or use Modge Podge while decaling. No more solvaset or acrylic finishes. I will use a sealer.

![]() Thats a tough one, I can't believe that happened to your figures.
![]() I have to tell you that I personally don't like the look of Modge Podge over the entire figure as much, I've tried it and in my opinion its not quite as clean of a look. Here is what I'd do. I would recommend getting some model masters flat black or the flat black from Miggle (two high quality paints). Secondly do a quick test run with a figure, take an old Miggle fab 5 slap a couple of the paint colors on it (such as black up against white which I think are the colors of your team) and then clear coat (again, I've never had any problems with Delta Ceramcoat and it is very durable and the look is nice). For you final figures, you could clearcoat before decalling to seal the paint, and then after decalling to seal the decals. I've seen this recommended by Beenut and others before. This is so weird, I've use the solvaset and everything and never had anything like this happen. I usually use model masters paints, but I do use a deltaceramcoat paint for the colors of the football and for a couple skin tones. The Miggle paints are great too, I just tried it on those Cowboys I recently posted and on a prototype Bears and the paint is smooth and covers great. It also mentions that it has a sealer so maybe it is more durable too (don't know, just know it works well with delta ceramcoat). Regards, Joe

![]() Now we know THAT combination doesn't work! Can you save the decals by soaking them?
