Moved By Words
I was taken aback last weekend by a comment of one of my fellow leaguemates saying that he had to come up for breath half way through a post that I had wrote regarding some area of miniature football. And although brevity could be used on some messages, clarity of points are all so important. For that reason, the reader has a choice to continue reading that message or get out whenever he wants. In all cases, he/she has the option of not reading if it is of no concern to him.
That's why when Coach Bog Franco made his comment about "Hall of Fame" posting requirements, I joked about it. For if it were not for people such as the Manataray 'Dre's, Jimbo's, Coach K-Lo's, Anthony Burgess's, Old School's and all the newbies of the world , who regular post here, the miniature footballer would see what happened to Miggle come here. And that is, a heavy loss of posters who offer information and great traffic. I was asked to come here some time ago by Beenutt to offer insight into my experiences in the game. I, like many of us, have vast experiences and have always love sharing my take on the game. Like me, others have done so as well. Whether you like them or do not partake in their rhetoric, you have no idea how they have affected you whether directly or collaterally in some manner. Oh yes, it becomes a soap opera on these boards from time to time. But I do believe, real information is being passed on helping people who may not have knowledge in certain areas gain knowledge. I believe some people are "moved by words" of some people, either for good or for bad. But those words act as a source of inspiration to improve as a coach, customizer, ambassador, or promoter of the game of miniature football. I was criticized for my play on the word of "toy" as far as miniature football is concerned. But that's my take. My company classify this as a "toy" by definition of governmental and manufacturing regulations. However, that sparked debate, anger, and some time animosity. But it also moved some people to speak. Those that would not voice opinions were willing to. I thought about the words of my leaguemate and asked myself, "Why is he reading my words if it tires him?" Just maybe it intrigued him? I don't know. All I do know is that when many of us wake up the next day, we click on to this chatboard to see what is the latest "gossip"? Can I use this word or will I be criticized for a "girly" word like this? If opinions are not given and every one said the same thing, would it even be a board worth frequenting? Ideas, banter, and arguments happen here but it is definitely up to the reader to choose which words or topics will move him. I can't force you to like what I do. All I can do is show you how guys in the DFW are having fun doing what we do. And just maybe, one or two of you may be interested? Who knows? But if the words move you to try it, important information has been given to you. So let's not be too critical of guys delivering the messages but wonder why the critics don't themselves deliver messages. It's easier to stand back and criticize others than it is to take the criticism of others when you offer no solution. Just a thought. Reg |
