Default Arena football going BIG TIME!!

They made the announcement this morning on Mike and Mike that the AFL will have Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg in the booth for the AFL this year. It was also announced that starting in March ESPN will have Monday Night Arena Football!! This is in addition to the Sunday games on ABC. Arena is going BIG TIME!

Hey Jimbo...

On your Arena netting.. What kind of material do you use..

I made some Arena Goal Posts for the Texas Shootout demonstration.. And I used plain old screen.. Which was fine.. except it deflected the ball too far back onto the field.. (not as realisitc)

Mark Robin now has those Arena goalposts.. I wonder if he has used them and if they loosened up a bit..

Default Electric Arena

I'm thinking of running Electric Arena this summer here in Harrisburg. Bill, when I made my net a while back (which has since been mangled by the kids using it to swat flies) I only glued the top part and a little of the net area down the sides. I left the bottom loose and that made the ball fall into the endzone. Try that out one time. Or glue the net all the way around but don't pull it to tight. Leave it loose in the middle. I'm starting to get Arena fever!!

Default Goalside Nets

I used plain old wedding tulle, found at your local Hobby Lobby or the like. I also experimented with different kickers and footballs and found that the EFDW colored foam balls work nicely. They fly up and down and deflect downwards most of the time. Wait until you hit one of your own guys sitting inside the 5 and the other guy's jaw just drops! That is quite a sight!!!
