Default Squeezing prongs.

How do you squeeze the prongs on a base so hard. I've seen photos of the prongs and they are just smashed!!!!!!!! I've tried squeezing the life and death out of them and that hurts my hands plus it doesn't work the greatest. I want to get the prongs as wide as possible so I can have more strength.
Thanks for any responses!
Michael

I get them that way from repeated squeezing, you are not going to get there in one squeeze. Plus I also found that when squeezing two prongs at once, you may have trouble getting an equal squeeze on them both, if one prong is slightly thicker than the other the squeezing force you apply will change that thicker prong more so than the thinner prong in the double set when squeezing two at once. Get some pliers with thinner, smooth jaws that are capable of squeezing one prong at a time in a double set, works good for me.

There are guys who break Craftsman pliers on a regular basis just from
squeezing them.

I am not a master tweaker, but I am just telling you what works for me. I am sure you wil get your fair share of replies on this one.

Default Heat The Pliers

The pliers smash prongs best when they are heated. It is best to set the pliers on a candle warmer. It heats the pliers evenly and at the same temperature each time.

If you can't get a candle warmer, hold the pliers over a lighter to get them to heat up. The down side to doing that is the pliers aren't heated the same temperature each time.

Michael, with you being 12, I wouldn't suggest the lighter method, in fact, I would say don't do this.

Stick with the candle warmer. Your mom will know what one is and make sure you have her or your dad's supervision.

Default He's A Kid

I had no idea that he was under 18. There should be some type of indicator on this site that signals when a particular person is under 18.

I agree and it has been mentioned before by Jimbo, I believe. I just had not taken any action on it yet. I'll see what I can figure out with the admin section to install something.

Michael,
My son Flynt is 16 he does alot of tweaking himself. I will get him signed in here to communicate with you. I think he has a few bases he would like to send you. He can also teach you what he knows to help get you started in the right direction.Being close to your age might help the communication.
Let me know if this is of interest to you.
