Default CBSMF question taken from an original RR post reply

I wanted to pull this question out so it could stand on it's own when discussing "The man about Campus" ..... so here it is from Reggie

"Wow, just think! An all-star roster of Jim Brown, Floyd Little, Larry Csonka, Ernie Davis, Darryl Johnston, and Joe Morris running the ball at Syracuse. Or Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell, Eric Metcalf, Butch Hadnot, Roosevelt Leak at Texas. Or Eric Dickerson, Reggie Dupard, Eric Dickerson at SMU. Or Reggie Cobb, Jamal Lewis, Johnny Majors, Johnnie Jones, Chuck Webb, at Tennessee.
OJ Simpson, Marcus Allen, Mike Garrett, Anthony Davis, Ricky Bell, Frank Gifford, or Reggie Bush at SC?

The question becomes, "Who gets the brunt of the carries?" How do you split it up? Do you sacrifice winning to make sure all of them get their touches? Are you trying to get that one special back a Heisman at the end of the season? Or do you just have them on your team as mantle pieces or everyone plays? Do you know the traditions of your team so special backs still need to be special? Do you sacrifice stats of one great one for the sake of winning the CBSMF title?

These may be the ultimate questions to deal with. Because as you see the statistics of teams come in on the CBSMF website, the rushing, passing, receiving numbers of legendary players, some coaches may have winning as a priority but you've got to believe, the stats will matter to some.

We were on a conference call discussing these scenarios. Very interesting conversation when you look up and see Brian Healey's Herschel Walker just tore Morgan Scott's Syracuse Orangemen for 234 yards on 25 carries and now lead the CBS in rushing. Or Darryl Sproles leads the CBS in kick return average with a 35 yard average. Or Grambling State's Doug Williams is the leading passer with a 22-25-320-5 and 1 interception and he's considered the number 1 passer. Do you look at those stats and think, "I've got to get my stats up" or consider the competition and think "Hopefully, he will play some stiffer competition".

These were topics of debate last night on one of those 3 hour conference calls among coaches. What are things you will think about in as it relate to this?

Reg"

you may chime in at this time.............

Default Win.....

K-Lo I missed this one. But you always go for the win. I don't care if you have Walter P. Hershel, or Gale. If you Scooby Doo running or passing and the production is there; then. It's Scooby right, scooby left, and Scooby go long. This is a team effort yes, but don't look to pad your stats for a win. 2-0 is a win just as much as 28-27 w/ 400 yds passing is a win. Next game!
