I just saw more of chris's work in the other forum. his work is so good because don't look like models, they look like gametime figures with the shading on the uni's and flesh. I would like to see reg rutledge paint something along those lines with his talent. jayboy combs Also.

Chris, it make tale you 2 to 5 years to complete but i would like to see you paint a field cover that looks like actual grass. Are you familiar with 3 dimentional painting. This feet is way too tall, im not asking you to try it, just thinking out loud.

I have worked in the commercial art business for 13 years, painted things big and small. It is not too much to ask, it's just a lot easier to get a beautiful field cover from one of the many talented guys on the chatboard.:p

the style that i am comfortable working in is more illustrative than realistic. it just so happens, when you do illustrations in this scale (and being 3D helps, as well), it tends to give the illusion of being realistic.
that's really what painting is all about, in my opinion, illusion. you referred to me painting a realistic field that looks like grass, and i could absolutely do that, but not the way that you would think. i would never approach it as needing to paint each individual blade of grass, that would be an obsene amount of time! there are many ways to give the illusion of texture and depth by using certain techniques and the right contrast of colors.
i will be giving out bits of info and tips on many different styles of painting in the near future for anyone who is interested.
