Question Video Study

Just curious - How many coaches out there video their practice sessions or scrimmages to assist in evaluating plays/players?

I know many coaches/league video part or all of big games.

I started using our "Team" (family) video camera this past fall to be able to look at plays I was developing. Not talking hours - just enough to be able to see things more clearly. It has definitely helped me in my return to MF.

When I was developing my lateral moving offensive lines I did shoot some video to track the movement. It was helpful in being able to replay the footage and really study the individual bases.

Default I Video Practice

Yeah,

I video my teams when I practice. Doing that helps me to keep track of my bases performance. I also can go back and reevaluate past plays. If you haven't done so already, visit YouTube and search under electriccoach. I have some training camp videos there for you to see.

Default Film Session is Vital

I have a library of film on my practices, games, and on opponents. Sometimes, when I really get off into the hobby, I would take the time and watch game film of other coaches in the league. Each coach is categorized in my library so that I can go back and study their tendencies, strengths and weaknesses. Those coaches always go back to what works best for them and it's great knowing what they are gonna do before they do it.

Default Video Tape and EF

Kevin Thrower(sp) from Pittsburgh spent roughly two years visiting and videoing numerous tournaments and league games here in the mid-Atlantic area before actually entering a tournament. Most recently, Kevin made an excellent showing against formidable opponents and reigning champions in the Beltsville Bash in May. His game is very respectable and capable of beating anyone in this hobby on any given Sunday. He studied the tape and formed his playing style based on his own abilities and from watching others. That is how we learn, by emulating others and blending our own attributes into a style we can compete with. I’m very impressed with Kevin’s approach to the game and with what he has accomplished in a short time. “Let’s go to the video tape.” Ray F., Manhattan Ray

Default Oh yeah!

I use game video to check tendencies of my bases. This is especially useful at the line of scrimmage to see what kind of push certain bases are getting in real game time situation...
