![]() The constitution protects your right to earn a wage in this country. Therefore, should you want to work and have the ability to work no one has the right to forfeit you the opportunity to earn a living. Therefore, Brett can retire 40 times and should be allowed an opportunity to play should that be his desire.
However, someone has to offer him a job. In this case Green Bay has right to him under the "reserve retired" rule in the nfl. He has 3 years remaining on his contract. The question is "should Green Bay let him go?" There are a few things that come to mind here when I think of this. To me Green Bay has a better shot at making it further into the playoffs with Brett because of his experience. However, his return make take a tole on the emotional psychy of his predecessor which will in turn destroy the very near future of this franchise. So you ask yourself if the goal is to stabalize the franchise long term then the answer would be to release him. However, this is a business and just releasing him isn't the answer. There are many teams interested therefore Favre obviously has trade value so a trade would seem the most likely. Having him on the bench as a backup eating up salary cap space makes no sense. If your goal is to win right now the obvious thing would be to make amends, move forward and allow Favre back into cap. Then you ask yourself what happens to the emotional Psychy of your young QB? You know what I say to this? If a QB in a tradtion rich program such as the Packers can't bounce back from being benched then he probably won't be able to handle the pressures of playing for such a historical organization! My suggesstion, allow him back. The goal is to win the Super Bowl and Favre gives you the best opportunity to do that. How many athletes in all sports retire yet only to return over and over again. Michael Jordan did it twice, Evander Holyfield, George Foreman, Bernard Hopkins and Oscar Dela Hoya all continue to do it, Strahan did it last year as well as many other greats! So I say let him return.

![]() let me say this to start my thoughts on the matter- I AM A HUGE BRETT FARVE FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now with that being said, here is my take on the whole thing (after getting resent updates) and what I think they (Packers) should do. 1st, Favre should not have retired but he said it was forced....I might believe that based on how last season finished, how could a guy walk away after such a great season...however it was Favre who said the words and dropped the tears... A.Rodgers is NOT ready for primetime- has not made it thru a full year being a BACKUP - how long would he last as THE MAN.... he has been in the shadows of Favre for his time in the NFL, but when he gets on the field he gets hurt - Favre on the other hand has not missed a game since he took over for QB...you can count on him to be there... if they cut Farve, they get nothing but headaches, heartaches, and maybe losses, but you also get the chance that Favre would come back to play against the Packers....no one wants that in Packers Nation. AND the Packers would get nothing from that senerio.... ...since Favre is vested, he can dictate where, if any, he would get traded to so the Packers lose this battle because (1) they are limited to where they could send him; (2) won't get much for him anyway.......... |

![]() If Rodgers is THE guy, THE answer - why did they draft Brohm???
Let Favre come back and do what he does. Let Rodgers go somewhere else. Let Brohm learn from the master. Because Brohm is THE long term plan for the Pack - not Rodgers! |

![]() saw this on a blog .
Brett Favre is the biggest baby! For a guy who says "it's all about the team" let's not forget he was the one who called out Javon Walker a few years ago saying that he had to come to camp and forget about the money, so what does Javon do, he's fires his agent, comes to camp and blows out his knee in the first game of the season, thanks Brett. Fort the next few years, he dangles retirement, stating that the Packers don't have enough weapons surrounding him for them to win, so what does Ted Thompson do, he stacks the Packers with talent, and yet Brett fails miserably in the Playoffs, anyone check his TD to interception ratio last year? Then the Packers draft Aaron Rodgers, "oh Brett arer you gonna be the good team player that you are and take Aaron under your wing, 'Ugh, that's not my job'." What a guy. Then this year after he retires, Ted Thompson and Mike Mcarthy volunteer to fly down to Miss., only to hear that Brett is retiring doesn't feel liek playing, so the Packers plan ahead! What else are they supposed to do! This guy is such a selfish player, borderline TO. Don't let emotions cloud your mind Packers fans. For a guy who has a Passer rating pf 62.1 in the playoffs since 1998! Please, can we move on!

![]() SAYING IT BETTER, I WOULD HAVE THIS TO SAY...........
Sometimes, all you have to do is wait long enough and someone's true character will show. I have been saying it for years. BRETT FAVRE IS THE BIGGEST 'bit, er, baby' IN THE LEAGUE. So, let me understand this. Mr. "Gunslinger" holds the franchise hostage year in and out with this retire or not to retire bullcrap, and then, after repeated attempts to keep him, he decides to retire. Now the cat decides he wants to play again, after Green Bay has already changed their draft strategy to fill his void, never mind install a new offense and mentally move on. But because the spirit has moved this bit, er, 'baby', again to play, he asks the GM about playing again. Because they didn't show enough enthusiasm or respond to his liking, he wants a release? What a 'baby'. I'd trade him to an Arena league team or the Texans and tell him to go and fake some sacks down there. Predictably, the media is giving him that Favre pass again. I have only seen one reporter hold him accountable. . .all of the rest of these sheep just fall in line and attack the Packers for not 'giving him what he wants'. Could you imagine Donovan Mcnabb pulling this sh, er, stuff, and trying to get away with it? Favre is overrated and now has successfully tainted his career in Green Bay with his childish sh, stuff. I'm lovin it. . .

![]() I hear some of what you are saying but how did he fail miserably last year? The were in the NFC Championship game.If it was not a frozen game Green Bay would of won.NY had the bigger better back for that type of game. You talk his td to int ratio. How many games did he win for them huh? They went 13-3 last year. The guy is not a baby.Strahan has done the same thing 3 years in row about quiting not quiting.Do you bring that up.Yes Green Bay has moved on and drafted for life with out him and thats cool. But let the man go.Other greats have done the same thing and finished out there career with other teams.Oh you dont want him back but you dont want him playing on a team that COULD burn you in playoff time.PLEASE.If i was him i would come to came.13 million as a back up.I do feel for both sides but sounds like Green Bay will not work with him.He has asked to be cut but they dont want to cut him so sounds like Green Bay is being the baby.

And if i was greenbay, i would let him go and HOPE he signs with a rival so he can march into GB and get his tooshy rocked as Atari sits back and waits for a the pic he is going to throw 45 yrds down field to Jennings who is triple covered. but it none of it matters. fans root for the helmet, not the name on the back. farve will be long gone into his overrated legacy and the packers will still be around getting waxed by Dallas.
