Confused about various types of bases?
Will someone explain to me the difference between 1st run and second run bases? What are wide top bases?/the various frosty bases? How do you get these different types of bases? Somebody please help! Thanks

I understand your confusion, B/C there are many types of bases, at times it can be overwhelming. From what I understand the difference between 1st run pro-line and the pro-lines available now all has to do with the plastic being used. The plastic is much harder now making the base very difficult to work with. The 1st run pro-lines had very soft prongs and were much easier to tweak. I don't know everything there is to know about bases but I will tell you to keep it as simple as you can. One of the best bases I first started experimenting with was the the(polo green rookie and TTC), this is a very consistent base and is available through miggle at a very reasonable price. There are very good tweakers on this board and if you reach out to them they will be happy to help you. I cannot emphasize this enough, keep it simple start off with maybe 2 different bases, as you evolve in the hobby you will gain a better understanding of the different type of bases. If you do a little research on this forum you will find information about these type of bases your wondering about, there is plenty of information here for you to explore. Now I would suggest you start with something like the (polo green TTC and Rookie), bases. And also get your hands on some Good pro-line first run bases and you should be on your way to building yourself a very competitive team. Please do not bury yourself with all the different bases available, B/C there are VERY VERY many of them. Don't drown yourself, if you'll follow the suggestion about keeping it simple in the beggining you will evolve into using the type of bases you prefer, it will come in time. You may reach out to me anytime you wish and I'll try to help you along your journey. Best of Luck to You

Agree with the Don
I have also found the polo green to be very consistent - good bases.

Hi efgamer,
Greetings to you my friend. I ditto what RPD said. It is VERY easy to get overwhelmed and confused when you hear about the various types of bases. For starters use what I call the K.I.S.S. and that it KEEP IT SWEET & SIMPLE. I also recommend ordering a set of the polo green rookie and ttc bases. You might also consider the orange as well as the teal bases from Miggle. If nothing else order a set of the polo green bases. By the way I noticed that you live in Alabama. I will try to put you in touch with some of the guys in the Dixie League who live in Alabama or Georgia who can mentor you. I will also contact one of the better tweakers in the hobby who can help answer your questions. Coach J |

The best thing you are doing right now is trying to learn the different types of bases. I started in the EF in DEC. of this year and had no patience , and I have made some big mistakes. Follow what the guys have said above and ask many question , this is a great forum and your questions will be answered .
RD is very helpful and knows what he is taking about. He has helped me out much the only problem is I didnt ask questions before I bought some bases. Let me confuse you some more. TTC ITZ MUNROE OLD TUDER BOAT 1st run Diamond Then people mix and match dials and bases And much more I am sure |
