![]() COACHES,
IF YOUR INTERESTED IN THE MPFL, coaches are under the impression that you must use ALL 4 STOPS. Not so. Your have the first stop which is the snap of the ball. During this time you adjust your players for the play you have designed. 1) offensive lineman adjusted for a) traps b)pulling lineman for sweeps etc etc 2) qb is adjusted to hand the ball off 3)running backs are adjusted to receive handoff's a) for sweeps around end b) traps up the middle etc etc THE DEFENSE IS ADJUSTING IT'S PLAYERS AT THIS TIME ALSO. It's up to you, if your play is ran to your satisfaction where the defense is not going to get a clean tackle. You can just let the play run it's self out as your second and final stop. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO USE THE ADDITIONAL 2 STOPS. Your RB may just break one on the 2cnd stoppage. The addl stop's (3 and 4) are for making cutback's into holes or into another direction if the defense is stout and pursuing heavily. it is totally on you. You may go through an entire game using only two stops. YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE ALL STOPS IF YOU DO NOT WAN'T TO !!!!!!!! MANTARAYDRE

Man you it the nail right on it's head. ![]() It is up to the coaches who are playing that determine the number of stoppages. Stoppage # 1 Snap of the ball If the coaches ( Offense or Defense ) is pleased with how this starts the he will say "Set!" ( Time of the stoppage 0 time ) If not then each coach gets 20 seconds Stoppages #2,3,and 4 the same as above. There are times when the board stops no adjustments are made ( 0 time ) There are times when a play will reach 2 stoppages, or 3, or 4 all depending on the action on the field and the choices that the coach makes at the time of the stoppage. The stoppage also acts as a teaching point. It engages the mind as you determine what action, pursuit angle you need to take, as well as gage what youre opponent is trying to do and counter it. Youre thought process is that of chess, thinking 2 to 3 moves ahead of you're opponent. You become a part of the game, apart of the play and not limited to being a spectator only, hoping and wishing. Checkers, and Chess two games, two mind sets, MPFL is Chess ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Ant,
I feel there are a host of coaches who think IT IS MANDATORY to use all 4 stops. I think they feel all 4 stops will take alot of time. Like i said earlier, if a coach is confident enough, he can run 2 stop for the entire game. I would have been confused also if i did not have the dvd's. When reading some of the post regarding the MPFL, i can see where people will think you must use all the stops as a rule. What may have gotten lost is YOU USE THE STOPS AS YOU SEE NECCESARY. aN EXAMPLE IS PASSING. After the snap, the qb can drop back and hit an open receiver on the second stop. After the ball is caught the plays is just ran. It is sort of a drop back and into the quick passing game. or a jerry rice from montana crossing pattern and run after the catch. IT IS YOU THE COACH THAT DETERMINES YOUR STOPS. NOT THE RULES/SYSTEM !!!!!!!!!!!! MANTARAYDRE

All four stoppages are used per play, however you may not reach all four. How else do you keep all players envolved in the play. The play can end in two stoppages or four all depends on the actions on the field. On average three stoppages are used per play.
