Default Super Bowl MVP - Santonio Holmes or Ben Roethlisberger

After what was a great Super Bowl, I was kind of surprised that Santonio Holmes was named the Super Bowl MVP. While either one was deserving of the award, I guess I assumed it was going to be Ben Roethlisberger for leading the Steelers on that last drive and his overall play in the game.

If you were voting for the MVP would you have voted for Holmes or Roethlisberger?

Holmes. Until that last drive, Roethlisberger hadn't done much. Holmes came up big in just about every Pitt scoring drive. Including, of course, that fantastic catch at the end.

Roth was so determinded and you could just tell he had what it took to take them down the field when it counted. He has the ability to extend the play to the last possible second for his recievers to get the seperation. Holmes made the big time play too (even the catch on the safety- holding penalty was an amazing catch and would have secured the win it not for the penalty). That catch to win the super bowl was picturesque!

But how about James Harrison as another MVP contender? How many sacks and holding penalties did he cause, and of course the huge TD return. I thought he seperated himself as the biggest difference maker for the entire game.

If Roethlisberger hadn't 'thrown' the pick, unfortunate stat, it wasn't an errant pass it was deflected at the line, he probably would have gotten it. It was a toss up.

Santonio had 131 yds on the day.

Ben threw for 256, not too shabby.

Right about James. Say, if he had another pick, and not the unsportsmanlike penalty he would definitely been in consideration. It's about time cats got flagged for holding him, he was getting held every game for the last 3 or 4 and no flags. He's a BEAST!!! If cats didn't know now they do!!!

Thinking about it, that really isn't a fair statement by me. He had had a pretty good game up until that point, and the last drive was excellent (and clutch). But Holmes stood out with some huge plays, including the game-winner.

Why does the MVP always go to a guy on the winning team? Look at what Ben did against the worst defense in the NFL, and look at what Kurt did against the best defense in the NFL and I think it's pretty clear who the most valuable player was.....

Default MVP ???

Fellas,
For years I always felt that the game winning receivers where always up staged by their QB's. This year however, I would give MVP to Rothelsberger! He played a hell of a game. he'll move up in my fantasy football rankings this year. He out shines Warner, Fritzgerald and Holmes just a little bit. If you liked Holmes, you have gotta love Fritgerald! Fritz had 2 TD's and 127yds and did you see the hit he put on the steelers when the cards score that second touchdown! Good game! I sure glad Tron wasn't drinking this weekend, I would have had to buy a new TV!

Thumbs up

My vote goes to the zebras!!!

I didn't have any stake in this game so take this for what it's worth. These guys deliberately or not have found a way to impact the game.I give the MVP to them.

1.They should've thrown James Harrison out of the game for a punch and chop move in the second half (clearly shown)
2.They should've thrown Hines Ward out of the game for a clearly thrown punch in the second quarter.
3.How about what looked like a 3-1 penalty advantage called against the Cardinals and several Steeler violations were not called.
4.Santonio Holmes game winning touhdown LeBron Celebration should've been a 15 yard personal foul and at the very least improved Arizona's field position.
5.Not to mention Kurt Warner's possible tuck rule play to end the game that wasn't even reviewed.

These things took the steam out of what was a very good superbowl and left a bad taste in my mouth.Somebody's got to do something about these zebras.I can't take much more of this as a fan. What do you think???

I TOTALLY AGREE, It's almost like the guys in the white and black jerseys want the most tv time, so why not give them the game MVP and game ball too.
