Default DFW League Expanding

Hey EFL'ers I'm RD, some of you may know me, most probably do not. I coach the Oakland Raiders in the DFW league. It has been quite an expierience coaching against such legends as M Robertson, D McDaniel,Reginald Rutledge, and all the other fine coaches in our league, and yes it was a learning expierience to say the least. We held our Super Bowl 2 or 3 weeks ago and most probably know the results by now, as Reg and the Cowboys came focused and ready to play and won the title. I had the pleasure of meeting Biglock, what a giant, and an avid EFL'er, and hopefully the respect we gained for him was mutual, as we shared the rules and game format of the DFW league with him.(Biglock I hope all is well with you my friend). Imagine getting in 100 plays in a 3 hour EFL Game, being able to use the spread offense and many other schemes, a coach is only limited by his or her imagination. To say the least my expierience in the DFW league was great, I met many fine coaches, learned many schemes, created my own schemes, lost games, won some games, I even finally learned how to tweak bases. Truely a HOBBY I'm glad I ventured in to(Thanks for your help REG) and I'm looking forward to many more years in the hobby.
Hey the DFW League is looking for Coaches, as we will be expanding the league next season, so if your looking for a challenge, or simply looking to get in a great league where 100 plays per game is often the case, feel free to contact myself or anyone else you might know in our league.
Texas Coaches this invitation goes out to you guys as well. If there are any coaches interested I'll list my number and please feel free to call, if I don't have the answers to your questions I will get them. Texas area coaches looking for a very competitve league give me a call.
Thank You All For Your Time

..From my conversations with Reg any team is fine just as long as you have a home and away jerseys. Reggie said come one come all, just play and have fun!!
I will be there next season with the Texans. I was in the process of moving and couldn't committ, next year is totally different. 100 plays is what I am talking about!!

I have been talking to Mark Klingbeil here in Houston and they are accustomed to plays and not time. Set plays to me is not as exciting as being able to run a hurry up offense with the time lurking over your opponents back. One other thing that we will adopt in the LVEFL is the kickoff and punt that the DFW has implemented. Who wants to be receiving a punt and be downed at a spot with time running out on you. With that said I am excited about the possibility of joining the DFW.

Default DFW Recruitment Drive

One of the great things about what we do in the Dallas-Fort Worth League is trying to cater to the needs of our "Road Warriors". Our "Road Warriors" are out-of-state/region guys who invest their time and money into coming here and being a part of the league.

Initially, our interest is to replinish the "local" contingent of EFLers and then to offer franchises to out-state coaches. The reason being is that "Road Warrior" coaches main interest is to come here and play their games and then go home. Not much has been asked of the "Road Warriors" in the past but that needs to change to some respect.

With local coaches, the pool of available officials (with experience) has to be replinished. We are considering a "cap" on out-of-state coaches because the tremendous burden on local guys to do the work is sometimes overwhelming.

One thing I know that will come into play this year is a greater commitment level from the "Road Warrior" package. For instance, when we put the 2007-2008 schedule together, we are firm in having 24 coaches. What we may do is create a "minor league" where we can bring coaches up if other coaches do not fulfill their obligation. Although I know we could easily do the 32 teams, it just creates great headaches even when one coach goes "astray".

A part of the commitment of the "Road Warriors" is flight arrangements confirmation. In the past, Road Warriors wait until the last possible second to make their flight reservations which at that time, the flight cost becomes enormous! The "Road Warrior" then uses excuses (too many to quote) saying he is not able to come. Well, that alone causes huge problems in a league which allows this type of format. You can imagine the scheduling difficulties if you were scheduled to face a coach who lives in L.A.? You've got to either forfeit the game or hope to do some re-shuffling.

I had that type of thing happen for the Shootout and that turns your stomach to even wanting to try to give guys the type of passion that you try to bring to the game.

So this year, we will definitely be looking at requiring "Road Warriors" to fax us their confirmation of plane arrival for the upcoming season. I know some may think they have to wait until the final days but its less stress knowing you've got that covered.

There are possible ways to help defray the cost for out-of-staters but that means out-of-staters need to work just as hard as in-staters to benefit from things I know about "creative financing" through EFL.

We are about to have a league meeting to create applications and profiles. We definitely are at a point of trying to create a better model for our league. We definitely welcome guys with bright ideas, guys who are committed, and guys who want to try to run a league like the NFL.

If you can handle being apart of a league where you are going to loose and still come to play and be professional, this will be the league for you. If you want to be a part of a league where stadiums, pagentry, media hype, injuries, penalties, and fumbles sway the outcomes, and creativity is encouraged, this is definitely one to consider.

However, because of the number of out-of-state coaches ( 15) wanting to be a part of the DFW, we've got to know the commitment level is real. Robert Don (Coach "The Don") is handling the recruiting coordination for the league as a whole. I think you have his number here. LeRon King (Cell-phone stadium coach) is handling the "Road Warriror" package. You can reach him at (817) 719-0991 and he can inform you of what to expect.

I probably will stay out of this part of the deal but many things come through me. But the committees will make the final decision and Robert and LeRon head the recruiting committee.

Reg

Default Suggestion

Reg here a suggestion that might supplement the pains of the travel. If you have say three or four coaches in an area like the Southern division. Match them up that month example . Texans vs. Cowboys, Cards vs. Cowboys, Jags vs. Saints. But those coaches that actually live in that area ;play in that area until they need to travel out of state. I wish I could make the trips to compete but you know my family & work wouldn't let me travel that much. Just a suggestion.

Default DFW Website Under Construction

Jimbo and others who may be interested,

Give us some time to "take off". We will be creating a website in the near future with statistical and historical information. Right now, we are about to have meetings about possible franchises coming open.

We've got to talk with a few coaches who did not finish out the year such as a Frank Johnson and see if he's coming back. Jimbo, I know you have Chicago but knowing you like I do, you probably have about 10 other 10 you can choose from. Let us have our"winter meetings" on that and get back with you.

Anyhow, I owe you a call today.

Reg
