Default Valdosta State Univ.

Ok, first time I have touched a hobby paint brush in 40 years and I was reluctant to put these pic's, however, I need feedback before moving forward.

This is the first "rough draft" so to speak, bought new better brushes and paint since.

Obviously I need to touch up. Leg stripe needs to be "smoothed out" on edges...No clear coat yet. Waiting for number decals from bnutt. I'll be making the helmet log's and helmet stripes myself on decal paper and then face masks and chin straps are in order.

All white has been painted, pants are actually a silverish/grey, however, the flash washed them out a bit.

They look pretty awful to me, in comparison to what I see on here, so let me know what your advice might be...

Last pic is a pic of what VSU uni's look like...

Please be brutally honest !!!

Man, decals for those stripes would probably have been very helpful, huh???

Thanks in advance...Joeram

Default great start!!!!!

joe you are off to a great start.those guys are going to be awesome.hand painted teams are always going to special in my eyes.it takes a whole lot more patience to me to hand paint stripes rather than using a decal.but in another opinion god bless those decal makers!!!!!!!

Default READY, did you say READY???

Geno...you know the speed by which I work, tryin so hard to do EVERYTHING right, I know, I know, lower the bar...

Yes, I can scrimmage, (2 on 2), maybe (3 on 3) by tomorrow...LOL

Coach Carter and Rick...The reason I chose them is my son is in his 3rd year there, not because I enjoy painting those stripes...

My skin is thick, open for "tips" to improve, although, I am sure time and experience is the best teacher...

Thanks,

Joe

Default AWESOME!

looking good!

-Painting over black is hard, maybe make a second coat, or touch up the 'thin' areas of red.

-for your edges, some use too little paint leading to a frayed edge. Roll the brush as you pull out of the paint to ensure that there is good coverage and all the stray hairs are caught. as you put the paint down you can almost run a bit of a bead of paint down the edge making a nice clean line...of course, too much paint will just make a mess. (practice practice practice)

keep up the good work! and keep posting pics!

They aren't bad at all. Only advice is for the pants go with a light grey and leave your striping last because of the detail. You're gonna be suprised how good they're gonna look.
