Default Creating lateral moving linemen

I wanted to bring this up here because of the trap blocking thread. I've never seen a thread that describes how to actually do it, so this was one of the first things I decided to try when I got back into EFL here at Christmas.

I found that the TTC bases just wouldn't work. So, I got some ITZ dials from Mark and replaced the Miggle dials with those. But first, I cut off the front and back prongs before putting in the dials.

I don't know if this is the correct way to do it, but it does work. I can get my linemen to go forward, backward, sideways, etc. I did have to change some of the figures because of "center of gravity" issues.

Does this sound right?

Default Mr. Vince...

How are you my friend?

When creating lateral lineman you must ask yourself a few question...

1.) What is my purpose for them? I've seen a lot of people have them and have no clue on how to use them. They just line them up and lineman start sliding all over the place allowing the defense to reak havoc on the QB. Make sure it fits your system and what you are trying to accomplish offensively.

2.) What figures are you using? I use ff.com figures. Other figures will work. I use ff.com figures because I have found them to be the easiest to customize and the easiest to balance.

3.) What is chemistry like between lineman and RB. Sometimes your lineman can be too fast where he over runs the block or your back can be too fast and he doesn't allow the lineman to clear. I have developed excellent chemistry between the two so I know exactly how deep my back must be in order to hit the hole at the right time. Medium speed lateral bases work best because they are more likely to make the block than miss it, it helps with balance because the slower the base the less likely the figure will fall over and slower bases are more consistant. The faster the base is the more erratic it is on a high speed set (especially in the case of a lateral base) which causes inconsistancy.

Otherwise I think you did everything else right. It is important to cut those prongs off the shell when inserted that dial. Good catch

Default Mike try this

...Mike try placing the ITZ dial in a F5 base. No bounce, great balance and the center of gravity is perfect.

I've got them for my tackles to fend off the loopers. And I'm trying different things offensively like having my BB facing one direction and coming back to block in another.

I've got them on FF figures and the BB OL tackle figures.

I'm working on that part. Trying to get the "timing" down. I've got them on strong TTC bases.

Thanks. Still a work in progress though. I'm painting everything right now, so I haven't been practicing of late. Hopefully, I'll be able to hit a tournament by late summer early fall.
