Default TRAP BLOCKING TO SET YOUR RB FREE

COACHES,

The trap blocking in the MPFL ARE ENDLESS. Im just curious on it's success rate in other styles of play. HAS IT WORKED FOR YOU.

I know it works in the MPFL but ( I ONLY WANT TO HEAR HOW IT WORKS IN OTHER STYLES OF PLAY.)

I REPEAT ( I ONLY WANT TO HEAR HOW IT WORKS IN OTHER STYLES OF PLAY)

pLEASE DONT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY BUT FROM NOW ON I AM GOING TO BE QUITE CLEAR ON THE POST I WRITE SO THERE IS NO CONFUSION.

I would like if MIKE ROBERTSON, REG RUTLEDGE, MOZEEK, JIM DAVIS , ARTLAX, NORBERT REVELS, THE WEST COAST COACHES, RAVENMANIAC. LOMAX AND ANYONE ELSE GAVE SOME SCENARIO'S ON THERE OFFENSIVE LINE STUNT'S.

RUNNING THE BALL IN 2009 MAY BE A MUST.
Many coaches are great passer's so how do you balance your attack's with the run game.

How was greg hardmon sucessful in springing his willie parker. I find the running game more fascinating than the passing game.

ARE WIDE LINE SPLITS THE KEY ?

THANX

Default traps...

here is something i was fooling with here in cali....
I put my tackle on a itz base goin either left or right..then the guard next to him is tweaked to run a backward loop to the same side like pulling down...with a lead blocker in fron my rb had 3 outside blockers to make the hole. This take some practice but is so much funn when you get it to work.

Default One of my favorite plays...

Mantaray,

this is a great question. In today's era of EFL it has become more difficult to do because the boards are played at higher speeds. Why is this an impact? Well defensive lineman are just as fast as the backs and receivers are with the development of pro-line bases. Years ago, defensive lineman were on ttc bases and because they had more strength than speed it allowed you more time to develop a play.

Also, pro-lines are so strong that devoloping a trap play (which usually requires you to block a defensive lineman from the side and slide him out of the way or use his momentum against him to move him out of the way) is merely impossible.

The creativity of run plays have almost become extinct because of the strength of the bases that are now being tweaked.

In the DFW or shootout style rules the "West Coast" offense has taken the forefront and has become the new wave of run creativity under this style of play. The "West Coast" offense uses lateral lineman to create running lanes for the backs. Instead of the lineman sliding to block a defender (which rarely works if you have a proline defensive front) he slides to get out of the way of the back. In essence he makes a running lane where initially there was none. The lateral lineman allow you to trick the defense because they have no idea of the direction your lineman are moving. So instead of calling this a trap play you could call it a draw or a dive and in passing situations it could also be used as a screen play because the lineman move out of the way, the defensive line comes thru and the backs slide out in the open behind them. A very beautiful thing when it is done the right way.

I hope this helps Dre!!!

Default Great question

Dre' I like to use to different trap & pull plays. As Mike R just stated with the ITZ bases you put one on the Center and Tackle figures. Then you tweak a ttc to run backwards to pull. As the guard is pulling the center & tackle are trapping the DT to create a sweeping lane. The other method I use is two linemen to double team a DT and a TTC based TE pushing out and a FB diving off the the TE/T gap. There's a lot of plays for traps.

Do you have to put the base on backwards to use the TTC base for pulling?

Mid-ohio league allows the lineman to be audibled for pre snap reads, so there are opportunities in this style of play to pull a guard if the defense doesn't line up across them.
