Well...I think the TTQB is the one item in electric football that is in desperate need of revamping. Someone must have some ideas to make a better QB for the game??? In our league, we have the QB on a pedestal (magnetic bottom) that aids you in getting elevation for throwing....but many purists would not accept it...I am sure...but it sure is easier to grasp the QB and make your throws. What if we used some sort of a spring in a tube (like a toy cannon) for the arm? You could elevate/depress the arm to get an angle on the pass.....maybe even have a way to adjust spring tension. The ball might actually be shaped like the real thing and made of some Nerf like material. I have improved a lot with the TTQB, but it is still kind of a clunky part of the game....so I would love to see some improvements! We have some creative geniuses amongst us here....so someone is probably capable of improving the TTQB.

Smile Throwing with your hands

Im for all ways of throwing the football with your hand, i am doing that with a semi-league I am trying to start with my 12 year old son and his friend, my age group has their face in there you know what, I am throwing the ball for years in NY with my hands, It works great for 11 years I was playing up there. I had a league with 25 people, I ran the show for 11 years, now I moved to boring Florida.
Great EF
Thanks

The TTQB has issues. Everything does. Nothing is perfect. But it and the TTC have stood the test of time much like the Tackle figure and the Wide Arm guy. TTQB passing is a particular skill set. And even as badly as I tend to pass these days, it ain't rocket science to hit a target with it now and then. If it is giving you fits try Geno's TDQ. Maybe it will help. Maybe it won't. But it is an available option to the TTQB.

Hand passing is UNDER rated. It always has been and always will be. Why would I say that? Because I have heard all the cliches for years. ...... When you pick up a TTQB you become the QB... a transformation from coach to player. A worthy analogy. I have also heard (and engaged in) talk of coaches crutching on their equipment. To some degree or more we ALL do. Being completely TTQB reliant is a form of crutching. Not a bad thing. But an argument can easily be made that if it is YOUR skill used to complete passes as the "QB/Player" on the field then use YOUR own hand to throw the pill.

As for my preference..... Well, lemme see..... How can I put this? ........ IF we are throwing with the board running then I could care less whatcha use to toss the rock. I.E., it would matter a lot less.

You had to know that was coming.

Default THROWING WITH THE HAND IS MORE EXCITING.

Pratt great post,

I think throwing the ball and hitting that little figure figure with your own hand makes you more of a qb than using a ttqb. Why, because its you. It's more exciting to see and more exciting for you. Why this is outlawed is beyond me. IN A GAME SITUATION, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE IF YOU USE A TTQB OR YOUR OWN HAND AS LONG AS YOUR BEHIND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. aS LONG AS YOU CAN GET A PASS OFF THAT IS COMFORTABLE FOR YOU, WHY DO YOU CARE HOW I THROW IT. There are some who want you to master the ttqb because they did when some coaches dont care to be skilled at it. The focus should be on the game of football and that paticular passing play. IF MY HAND DOES NOT CROSS THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, HOW DOES USING A TTQB MAKE A THROW MORE RELEVANT THAN USING YOUR HAND, AS LONG AS YOU ARE THROWING.

You mean to tell me if i see a receiver open and i pick up a ball ready to throw it with my hand, your going to say, no no, you have to use this (the ttqb). TELL ME WHY ! BECAUSE YOU ETCHED A APARATUS IN YOUR RULEBOOK. Would an NFL quarterback's pass become more relevant if a sideline crew halted the game and dragged out some sort of launcher to place the ball on and launch a pass. before you tell me well, thats how we passed as a kid before everyone learned how to use the ttqb. is hog wash.

a coach was telling they love passing with there hands. they cut up cigarette butts and use those. THEE EMPHASIS SHOULD SOLEY BE COMPLETING THE PASS. I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE IF NO ONE CROSSS THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. Shouldn't you worry about the actual game instead of worrying about who has a skill with a ttqb. There should be 3 options when WHOEVER WANTS TO PASS NEEDS TO MAKE A PASS.

1)TTQB IF YOU WANT TO USE IT

2)THROWING WITH YOUR HAND IF YOU WANT TO USE IT

3)LEADING A RECEIVER WITH STICKS IF YOU WANT TO USE THAT

**LET THE COACH DECIDE WHAT IS THE BEST SCENARIO FOR COMPLETING THAT 1 PATICULAR PASS PLAY.

***THIS IS TOTAL FOCUS ON MAKING THAT PASS PLAY.

BEFORE YOU TELL ME YOU SHOULD PRATICE WITH THE TTQB, TELL ME WHY CAN'T I PRATICE ALL THREE OPTIONS. IF YOU TELL ME IT IS NOT IN THE RULEBOOK, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL GAME ITSELF AND MAKING A PASS MOST COMFORTABLE TO A COACH.

***AS LONG AS NO ONE CROSSES THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE***

Again, I would be less inclined to care what mechanism one used to attempt the pass IF the board was running during the attempt. You know, receivers and defenders in motion during a pass (or run) play. WOW! What a revolutionary and novel idea for a game of football. Want to pass? Do it while the play is in actual progress. Want to pitch? Same applies.

Before this gets too far off topic, there are some (fairly) old provisions for "possession receptions" too. ::: Debate Question ::: "What if one wanted to simulate a possession reception or a pass where the receiver sits down in the soft spot of a zone?" Simple...... Put that receiver on a dead base. The board would still be running so all other players could (not have to) move while the attempt is made. None of this is new to the game. It's all been done before. Though the "possession reception" method was recently given a new name by Jimbo. "Matrix." I like it.

One more thing to add to your post MRD. Hand passes released behind the on-field QB and no higher than say a TTQB height above it. Many things have been used to see that passes are done consistently in a similar fashion. Some work better than others. Point is, I agree with most of what you said except for using the LOS as the release boundary. I think using the on-field QB's position is more appropriate. And that would include a mobile QB on the roll, run, what have you. I.E., follow him with your hand. It's all been done (successfully) before. So, nothing really new or innovative here.

I'm out of popcorn.
