2009 Commitments and Beyond
Wow!!! What a great weekend. I had a chance to play a game, hang out with some good guys, talk with coaches across the country, and eat a stack of good pancakes at a hole in the wall. On a MF trip, you can't ask for a better time. I also got a chance to spend some time with a good coach eating Tex-Mex food and getting something I desire more than anything else, a few hours all alone driving back to my home in Arlington.
It gave me a good chance to think about the commitments I have for 2009 and beyond. In 2009, I've got a whirlwind of things going on in the game of MF but I am tired. With the CBSMF campaign, this first season looks very good! It's great watching what's happening throughout the country with the enthusiasm about the league. When you play a central role in it, it can be taxing.
I am committed to playing in the BAM this season beginning in 3 weeks. Again, playing with a great bunch of guys is the utmost importance to me. There's great enthusiasm in going in making this happen! The hype level will be high. That will only take two weekends out of my life and I can give that.
Then I owe my friends Greg Hardmon and Jim Davis two weekends and we will definitely have fun. Other than those commitments, I will be taking a lot of downtime. Beyond that, it will be interesting to see. Next year, more people will join the CBSMF as recruiting always continues but hopefully, I will be able to take a step back.
The workload for what it's worth can be overwhelming. Getting 3 hours of downtime gives you time to think about those things. And just think, I did this for 15 years for a league in DFW along with the Shootout. Yeah, some downtime might be in order for me. I am tired.
