Default Vikings Colors

Reggie,

I am glad that you posted your Vikings. It made me think about their colors. I don’t know if anybody noticed; last Monday night did the Vikings jersey look sort of blue? The helmet was dark purple. I have a picture of Chester Taylor. His helmet, stripes, and numbers looked violet. I think they either have multiple uniforms or their colors react to light. What do you think?

Yes the jerseys did look a little blue, but even there usual uniforms look blue inside the dome. I remember when I was little I thought they did wear blue

Default Electric Coach, I know...

that over the years, the Vikes have changed their tint of purple from time to time. However, what you are speaking of is directly related to the lighting on purple. Purple on television can look blueish or violet or dark purple.

For the Vikes, there is a certain Pantone number that the Vikes currently are under, however, I use one from Apple Barrel that is right on. But for my old school Vikes, I decided to use a Tamiya X-16 purple because it is more vivid to me. Also, it clashes well with the yellow sleeve stripes as well.

But that color discrepancy has to do with lighting in that building. That's just what I can see.

Default Yeah Tamiya X-16

I saw that Tamiya X-16 purple paint in the hobby store yesterday. I thought it was a little too light. So I picked up a bottle of Model Master 4651 Deep Pearlescent Purple. I want to compare it to a mix of red and blue that I have. The mix makes variations of purple. I want to make a new set of Vikings and maybe some Ravens.

Default I know it looks lighter but

once you put the paint on, it darkens a little. Then, when you add a clearcoat, it gives it a slightly darker tint from there.

I am so tickled purple about the Vikes I created that I will be doing many more this weekend.
