Our linemen make the job pretty well. So it's difficult to create holes to pressure the QB on center field. For that type of play, I think I'll go for rounded proline strenght bases as soon as possible.

The lack of specialized defense players is obvious : the only way to "attack" the QB from the sides is to use receivers and runners to try straight sacks. My tweaked teams are offense oriented, and run pretty well (fast and straight). I didn't thought that loopers could be so important in the game, especially for defense play.

I need specialized loopers.

Finally, the field coverage. I'll need specialized defense "round turners", able to stay in circles, and not to go straight forward like joggers.

Next game : next week I hope. I've got some remaining rookie bases, I'll try to tweak loopers for blitz, and as soon as I will afford it, I'll go for proline rounded bases, a few figs more and miggle polo green dialed bases too, to create dedicated defense squads.

CONCLUSION : it was fun ! The reward seeing my work in action is really cool. I'm happy to have achieved a -I believe- good gameboard, and decent offensive squads. As soon as I 'll be able to play good defense players, the game will bring us to a higher level.

I hope my brother (and other friends, perhaps) will involve in the game. I saw that my basic training I made last weeks paid on the field. As I'll continue to progress, tweak and train, if I don't find involved people I will be rapidly unbeatable here in france...even if my level is a way weaker than yours, of course.

Finally, on a general purpose, as soon as possible I'll invest in a timer too, and I have to find solutions for the kicking game too (I've got solutions, but I have to realize them).

ANd finally....training, and training again, is the key to success ! We obviously saw the game level higher on the end of the game. Next game will be better

thanks again for all the people who helped me. I 'll not quote their names, to be sure to not forget anyone, but be sure I appreciated all your help, my friends

DImitri

I have the talent you seek............but you too can have loopers, but they can't be Ironman players.

great stuff Dimitri. one thing you can try until you get better defensive specialist is to widen out your offensive linemen, that gives defensive linemen more chance to break through. dont go to wide, but just widen more.

Question for you - When will you be expanding both teams to 22 players?? That will be the only way to improve your Defense
As soon as I 'll can afford it, simply as that You're right, tweaked and trained D squads are the key.

actually we play that placing rules : one base width between bases (in the board widht sense) and 3yards between the bases fronts and rear sides (board lenght sense). In one word, each player 's got 3 yards space in front, 3yards space in behind, and a base width large space on each side.

Hope that you are doing the bases for the Packers.....so both teams remain equal, talent wise. The rest of it becomes who makes plays or not.

it's exactly what I did on the 2 teams : I spent a lot of time trying to make them equal and balenced. Seeing the yesterday game, I think I succeed. But now I have to work on the defense play and tweaking

You're off to a great start my friend.

How did those plays work out for you?

without loopers and "curvers", I didn't succeed to make several of them, so we tried to make our own soup finally

but it helped my brother especially (he studied it so carefully that it had slowing down the game, BTW ). Personaly studied all these plays during last weeks trainings.

thanks

edit : by the way, we used the "clear and loud designation" rule we spoke about with Dre, for the passing play : when the offense turn off the board, the coach has to instantly and clearly say what receiver he choose for the pass. it made the passing more dynamic, and create interesting game situations (for example, missing a better receiver).

Yes, that game is just great. Now I have to :

think about my defense play and defense tweaking
create good game markers
train, and train again ^^

I'll certainly have new questions. Playing the game, I thought about a lot of things : space between the players, linemen pivots, stacking, game sequence, play developement duration, kicking, etc...

EDIT : BTW, we used "base front tackle" rule, and enjoyed this rule for the good running games opportunities it brings us.

Actually, I'm also reading other "advanced" rulesets to see what we should prefer to play. I like the Buzzball ruleset (except for the tackling rule), as soon as I'll have a timer, I'll try it. In my humble opinion and own taste, I like rules who doesn't allow stacking/piles.
