Default Lost Treasures: EFL Songs Holiday Collection

From time to time, people still ask me about those little EF songs I wrote years ago. I found a few and remembered a few of the Christmas songs lyrics. Merry Christmas to All!

EF TOURNAMENT
(sung to the tune of “Winter Wonderland”)

Game boards buzz, are you listening?
With excitement, the room is bristling
A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight
Playing in an EF tournament!

Thrown away is the bad base
Now we play with a new base
We tweak our base prongs as we go along
Playing in an EF tournament!

In my spare time I can paint a figure
And pretend that he’s a Cleveland Brown
He’ll say “I’m your starter!”
I’ll say “No, Sir! But you’ll get in the game on passing downs!”

Later on, we’ll just hang out
And we’ll laugh and talk about
The games that we played and friends that we made
Playing in an EF tournament!

In my spare time I can paint a figure
And pretend that he’s the great Jim Brown
I’ll have lots of fun with that new figure
I hope that he runs for a touchdown!

When we play, ain’t it thrilling?
Scrimmage me if you’re willing
We’ll dream we can play the NFL way
Playing in an EF tournament!

TUDOR’S RED PEGGED SPEED BASE
(sung to the tune of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”)

You know Proline and Buzzball and RL and Munro,
TTC, Rookie, F5 and Coleco
But do you recall my favorite EF base of all?

Tudor’s red-pegged speed base
Had some very bright red prongs
And if you ever owned one
You would say it isn’t strong!
All of the EF coaches
Used to laugh and call them names
They never used the red pegs
In any of their EF games!

Then in a game on Christmas Eve
I heard Santa say
“Red Peg with your burst of speed,
Can you get the sack I need?”

Then all the coaches wanted them
And they shouted out with glee!
Tudor’s Red Peg Speed Base
Will go down in history!

I SAW MOMMY SCORE ON SANTA CLAUS
(sung to the tune of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”)

I saw Mommy playing Santa Claus
In an EF game on Christmas Eve
She didn’t hear me creep
Down the stairs to have a peep
She thought that I was tucked up in my bedroom fast asleep!

Then I saw Mommy score on Santa Claus
On an off tackle play to the right
What a laugh it would’ve been
If Daddy had only seen
Mommy playing Santa Claus that night!

’67 MAN
(sung to the tune of “Frosty The Snowman”)

’67 Man was made from a bigger mold.
He’s much bigger than a Miggle figure
And he has a base clip hole.
’67 Man is the best figure they say.
He is white as snow but all of us know
That we will paint him one day.

There must have been some magic in
That old Tudor mold they found.
For when they pulled the Big Man out
He began to dance around.

Oh, ’67 Man was alive as he could be
And the Landsmans say he can laugh and play
Just the same as you and me.
Buzzity buzz buzz
Buzzity buzz buzz
Look at that Big Man go!
Buzzity buzz buzz
Buzzity buzz buzz
He is deluxe, you know!

’67 Man heard they boiled teams in L.A.
So he said “Please be fair. Don’t ship me there.
I don’t want to melt away!”
Out from the package sneaked fifty teams of Big Men
Running in and out of Miggle’s warehouse
Saying “Catch me if you can!”

The Big Men put some Miggle Men
In that package L.A. bound
And when the coach opened up his box
He made an angry sound!

Oh, ’67 Man was happy to get away
And he waved goodbye saying “Don’t you cry,
We’ll play in L.A. some day!”
Buzzity buzz buzz
Buzzity buzz buzz
Look at that Big Man go!
Buzzity buzz buzz
Buzzity buzz buzz
He is deluxe, you know!

PLUG IN WALLS
(sung to the tune of “Deck the Halls”)

Plug in walls our electric cords
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Then turn on our EF game boards
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Don we now our team apparel
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Play EF and sing this carol
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

See the buzzing game before us
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Get your team and join our chorus
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Follow me in merry measure
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Sing about the game we treasure
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Every play you throw your passes
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Incomplete! You need new glasses
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Indoors we all play together
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Who cares about winter weather?
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

RUNNING BACK
(sung to the tune of “Jingle Bells”)

Smashing through the line
On a one-back running play,
Down the field he goes,
Rumbling all the way;
Busting that long run,
Made my spirits bright;
What fun it is to execute
A running play tonight!

CHORUS:
Oh! Running Back! Running Back!
Could go all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to see
Electric Football running plays!
Hey! Running Back! Running Back!
Could go all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to see
Electric Football running plays!

A day or two ago
I played an EF game
Against my dear old friend.
Edgar Downs is his name.
His defense had me stopped.
Running room was not a lot.
Then my halfback followed a block
And through the hole he shot!

CHORUS:
Oh! Running Back! Running Back!
Could go all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to see
Electric Football running plays!
Hey! Running Back! Running Back!
Could go all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to see
Electric Football running plays!

Now with a good ground game,
You just can’t go wrong;
Find good TTCs
To make your O-line strong.
Now get a rookie base,
And tweak it for some speed,
Put him behind a strong fullback,
That makes the blocking lead.

CHORUS
Oh! Running Back! Running Back!
Could go all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to see
Electric Football running plays!
Hey! Running Back! Running Back!
Could go all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to see
Electric Football running plays!

SUNDAY NIGHT
(sung to the tune of “Silent Night”)

Sunday night! Football night!
Can’t stay calm, feels so right
’Round the TV and football set
All of our troubles we will forget.
Please let us play in peace.
Please let us play in peace.

Sunday night! Football night!
Wife’s head shakes at the sight!
Then she screams from the kitchen afar,
”You promised to wash my car!”
After this one last play!
After this one last play!

Sunday night! Football night!
Won my game! Spirits bright!
Radiant beams from my happy face,
Because my team is now in first place!
See you guys next weekend!
See you guys next weekend!
