WHY IS IT LAW ?
COACHES,
Today's topic, HOME and AWAY JERSEY'S (WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE) Who wrote into law that 1 team must wear a DARK colored jersey, and the other team must wear WHITE jerseys. Why, to determine who is the home team, I THINK THE FANS SITTING IN THE STADIUM CAN PRETTY MUCH FIGURE OUT IF THEY ARE HOME OR NOT. I think it's looks much more interesting when BOTH TEAMS WEAR THERE DARK AND COLORFUL JERSEYS. I saw a college game wear this has occurred. I know one team was ucla and the other was cal or usc. The look took on a different tone, it was pretty cool. SO, FOR INSTANCE LET SAY THE 1) Raiders played the chiefs 2)chargers played the Broncos 3)Bengals played the Jets 4)Giants played the Redskins 5)Saints playued the cardinals 6)Vikings played the Packers 7)Steelers played the colts 8)Patriots played the Dolphins 9)lions played the falcons 10)bucs played the bills. YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T TELL WHO FROM WHO ? *** I could see if both teams uni's were so close it would be that hard to tell the difference. ***I could see if both teams were forced to wear white jerseys only, although i could still figure it out. WHY IS THIS ENFORCED. Why can't leagues loosen up a little a nd have more fun. Who set this in stone. ***WHY ARE WE FOLLOWING THIS IN MINIATURE FOOTBALL ? i think i would rather make a teams all 1 jersey color instead of splitting the difference. Not making 2 seperate teams all 1 jersey color. Whyaren't we more creative and setting our own standards. LOOK AT THE TEAM SCENARIO'S ABOVE, IF THESE TEAMS WERE N YOUR LEAGUE I THINK YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFF. Now that im thinking it was USC. Burgundy and gold vs powder blue and gold, IT LOOKED GREAT. I think the true meaning of home team is 1) It's your fans 2)It's your stadium 3)your in your state WHAT DOES A JERSEY COLOR HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING. MANTARAYDRE

Personaly, and concerning MF, I choosed to make my O squad in dark, and D squad in white, to make the players selection easier during the games, and of course to add a little diversity during painting even if the team stills the same
For real football, I don't know...I know it's quite the same in all team sports I guess it's for people in the highest (far from the field) seats in the stadium (imagine a game with similar dark jersey teams : 49ers vs cardinals, for example) |

I remember reading once that the reason that the Buffalo Bills went to red helmets was that the majority of the AFC East Division at the time wore white helmets and that sine most of their games were against other "white helmet teams", they felt like it would help the QB distinguish his team from the other during the fast-pace of a passing play.
I would assume that, as The French Guy noted, that it is just easier to tell the difference between teams, especially when the jersey colors are close. It probably all started back in the day when the players wore the wool jerseys and the technology of coloring fabrics were not as advanced as they are today and most teams seemed to lean toward darker colors. |

in terms of MF initially I had all my teams in their home colours, but I found it hard to change my offence and defence because everyone looked similar and i dont have that much space to spread everyone out.
so like Dimitri said it is mainly for easy selection. in the NFL I like the variety of having the different jersey colours for each team (they also get to sell more merchandise!). I would think that having away jerseys make it easier on the refs too (think about throwing a flag on something that is several yards away at full speed when both players are almost wearing the same thing?! there is also a bit of strategy as the home team can elect to wear their whites. so when you play somewhere in the blistering heat... say miami...they can make the saints wear black when they are in white! |

SIDELINE ORGANIZING.
COACHES,
A solution to knowing what player to choose may be to put each unit in two seperate trays. Dont have them lying all over the place together. When it's time for the defense to come off the field put them all back in that tray right away. Do the same for the offense. A good way to seperate players on the sideline for easy personel identifying is to place them in ice trays. You can mark the tray if need be. This way if you need to add an additional db in a 3rd down sit-chu, he should be all alone in his slot in the tray. No shuffling around players looking for someone. This is also good if you play with the 45 sec clock counting down. You can even write the number next to the slot on the tray with a marker. You see number 26 on the tray and you know that is your go to guy. I think you can get a 3 tray pack for maybe $1.00.. You should have enough room to align 3 to 4 trays on the game table or a table near by. Inside each cup on the tray, you can mark 1)str (strong) 2)fst (fast) 3)lpl (looper left ) 4)lpr (looper right) 5)itz >>> 6)itz <<< 7)stsh (stationary player) ****just make sure you place the player back into his right slot/cup ****however you want to organize on the sideline is up to you. MOST OF THE TIE COACHES HAVE THERE LAYERS SPREAD OUT ALL OVER THE PLACE. When your trying to act fast, it's hard to identify players when you see that clock counting down. thanx mantaraydre

the ice tray idea is pretty cool I have to find something like that...and make something I can attach to my big board too !
With that tray thing, you can mark the trays with a code, to know what fig you can use for typical action...clever. |

i dont think its law, but is multi reasoned. (1)what everyone already mentioned.(2) dark jersey's are easier to see if the ball hits them,(3) cause most minifootballs are a lighter color.(4) collectors and competitors want to have both or all jersey's worn by their teams,(5) most home teams are dark, most away teams are white,(6) it makes all of the great painters in the hobby have more work to do, thus making more money doing more teams.
like , in the last 6 or so years, most people have gone to the dark "O" and white "D", but , our friend Reg, he went opposite, and in my mind, he did this because some of his faves wear white home jerseies, i.e. COWBOYS. but i think the main reason is for tournaments and leagues.......it WILL allow 2 different coaches the chance to each be the same team and play, offense DARK defense WHITE |

It's not law
'Dre,
ITS NOT LAW!!! It came about because some league or tournament organizer made it a rule to have Offense in one color and Defense in one color. Not all have this rule. Some require whole teams in one or both but it is up to the home team to decide which to wear. Some have no rule regarding uniform colors. The only rule that I know of regarding uniform colors from actually football is that the home team chooses what color to wear and the opposing team must be in a sufficently contrasting color uniform. It is really up to the individual to decide what they want to do. If you choose to play in a league or tournament that requires it then do it. IT"S THEIR RULE and their right to require it.
