Cool Tron Speaks: The Seawll Brawl 2007

Congradulations,
This tournament hosted to bring recognition and funding to the Police Unity Tour has once again united both friend and foe alike. It's awesome when competitors can battle like bulls and drink from the same "loving cup" at the end of the day. Thanks Ray! the Martini was delicious! Coaches and players came form all over the country. The B-more Ballers,The D.C.Champions,The Philly Crew, The Motown Mobsters, The Ohio Players, The Dixie Boys and some Rooting Tooting Texans also showed up! The joint was packed!
Everyone had something nice to display, buy, sell or trade. Mega Watts and Reggie bought some big boards. For you too hate had figures. Reggie had figures. Corey with an "E" was boosting buzzball figures. Jeasy and Lomax were bumping out new bases to raise the bar of competition. Coach J was awarded the title of Mr. Unity and Reggie Reg received the "Life Time Acheivement" award. Don Smith and Jimbo have run an outstanding tournament two years in a row! The Friday night dinner/awards ceremony acknowledges coaches for a variety of reasons and the food is always delicious. Who knew that when it was my time to win a award that I would be using the head? Who knew? Thanks guys it means a lot to me!
The MFCA ran a new skills competion! Coaches were putting up the fastest and strongest figures for competition. One special note:Will travers covertly blew on my fastest two men and caused them to fall down thus seizing my coveted crown. Travers, I'll be back next year! The reconfiguration/custom- mizing class by Reggie Rutledge was another smashing success. Reggie gave face to face first had cutomizing lessons to at least a dozen coaches at one time. He also gave them a final exam and home work. Anthony Burgess came through and gave a up close and personal demonstration of his multiple stop/weighted system. It was an intense demonstration with players chosen from the crowd while Anthony instructed them on one of the most controversial and unique styles of play. I myself give this style of play my 100% seal of approval. We will all be playing this way soon.
The coaches bought their families with them and it looked like everybody had a ball. The babies were happy and the youngsters made new friends and some even competed for trophies of their own. Big ups to The Brothers Chalmers and the sons of Joe Greco and Ed Roche'.
The competion was intense! It look like more than forty coaches were fighting for the Belt! Big Keith fell, Norbert Revels fell, Lomax Stumbled, Smitty fell, Frank "the professor" was over come with fatigue, Rutledge had a headache, Jeasy Money was tested. After the tide had rolled back out to sea. Only Simmie and "The Kid" were left. As we cruised back to B-more, we heard a shout in the distance, TWO TIMES! TWO TIMES!

Who keeps letting these "KIDS" in the room? See You'll at the 2008 Seawall Brawl! Pictures to follow?

Default Congrats DC

Congratulations DC on repeating as Champion and getting through a very, very tough field all the while carrying a target on your back as the defending champion.

Congratulations to Simmie for making it to the final game and to Greg Hardmon and Jimbo for making it to the final 4.

Also congratulations to Robert Chalmers for winning the Kids Championship and to my son Zack for finishing in 2nd.

Many thanks to Don Smith and Jimbo for putting on a first class event. The 2006 Brawl was great, somehow 2007 was even better. I can't wait for 2008.

Default Congrats to a Great young Champion

DC Congrats on winning the Brawl for the second straight year. It is a championship that was well deserve, you are a true champion and a great young man.

I want Don and Jimbo know that I was so glad that i came to the Brawl, I had such a great time playing and fellowshipping with a lot of guys that i have only heard about. The style of play was so different from anything that i have ever done, but it was so exciting. When that devider came up, you were either excited or i am in trouble.
You two put on a first class event, even with the hickups you had the event it did not stop the excitement. I love the cause that your event was for, the slide show that was put on all through the event I even saw the offices that was shot here in Toledo, it is great what you guys are doing.
It was so great to finally meet Reggie and Don some of the great name in this game, I wish we could of found a little more time to talk but the little time we did have confirmed everything that i thought about you guys. You two are first class gentlemen and it was great to finally put a face with a voice. I consider you guys friends now. I was a little upset that I missed the customizing class with Reggie That was the one thing that i did not want to miss. I hope we can do this again in the future.
To all the other fellows that I have meet and talk to I feel that we are starting to create and extended brotherhood through this game we love. From big Kieth, Lomax, Ernie, Joe G, Ed Scott, Ray, and everyone else that I am getting to know through our wonderful game, I look forward to seeing you at more event in the near future.

Default congrats

Congratulations DC - you are a great player. I was able to watch some of your games and you are a great champion and a fine young man. Don, I know you are a proud father and you should be. Hats off to Simmie for a good run.

Thanks to Don and Jimbo for having this event. It was an unbelievable event - almost all the heavyweights were there in one room. With the games and the fellowship, I am convinced this hobby is headed in the right direction!

Default After This...

...all the "self-proclaimed" and "so-called" Heavyweights are no more! This was IT! If you didn't show, then you're reputation is just a myth in my book. This was the chance to "Prove It or Lose It" and we saw who did what. Minus those that were vendors and/or "staff" of course. We'll be hard pressed to get a better field of Coaches than we had here AND get DC to try for a 3-peat.

IMHO, DC has truly proven that Champions show up and play, as did everyone that came, and Reputations and their trophies get dusted off every now and again.

Thanks to everyone that came and to everyone that wanted to come but had pressing life issues that prevented it. For those that just simply chose not to come, your mistake.
