A Great Tournament and Time
First, I think much thanks must go to Don Smith for allowing us to INVADE his town. Don Smith has done yoeman's work to continue to promote the hobby. This brother is one of the true legends of the game, not just from a ambassador role but one of the greatest coaches to play. His tireless efforts, along with his lovely wife Lisa, show guys from all over the country luv and hospitality. That places him in rare company in what he does for the game.
Next, a great thanks to my brother and great friend, Jimbo Dunnagan. This guy has taken an idea and run with it. He's one of the most passionate coaches and promoters in the game. When he ask me to be there, it's hard to refuse. Thanks for taking the lead role in keeping this thing together. Congrats to D.C. "The Kid" Smith. One of the best young men to come around, this guy is truly a great champion. Pops raised him well in the fine art of EFL and its going to take someone very good to knock him off his throne. Always a deserving champion, contiunue your studies at ND with the same type of passion and vigor that you demonstrate in the game. The Brawl was simply outstanding! Being able to just see guys who I have done business with but never met in person was truly special. The type of energy and electricity was something I will never forget. Yall know me as a long-winded writer but I must give a few acknowledgments to some guys who keep me inspired. Be patient. Guys like Darrian Ross, Mark Ilfresh, MustangJerry, Greg "LL Cool J" Hardmon, Ed Roche, Ernie Grice, Al Grice, Joel "from Gamecock Country", Kevin Boddie, and others had never met me. I appreciated them taking the time to sit in on my seminar on customizing FF.COM figures. I hope it was informative. I must say a very special thanks to one of my biggest supporters in the game, "Broadway Dre". My wife, Rose and I, have always had a special place in our heart for this gentleman. "Dre" is one of those guys who will support your efforts no matter what. Much luv goes to 'My Boy, Tron 1984. Tron and I just have that brotherhood that just happened through the game of EFL. Guys that always bring EFL joy to my face are guys like "Mr. National" Corey Johnson, Jim "The Hustler" Davis, Pat Morris, Steve Martin, Smitty, Will Shropshier, Frank "The Professor" Johnson, K-Lo (Lomax was voted the teacher's pet in the customizing class), Adrian Baxter, Brian (2-0) Healey's and Mrs. "UT" Healey, Ray "Mr. Unity 2006" Fanera, Dearell Brevard, Toney Jones, and all the others. Finally getting the chance to meet "Coach J" was very special. This coach is the first line of defense in welcoming people to the game. He walks in the same same class of guys like Dirk Thomas, Ray Faneras and others who are true ambassadors of the game. Don't take guys like him for granted! They come alone every once in a while, not every day. It was great meeting Joe Greco "Roman Wrestling" for the first time! It was just something special to be apart of what I think is the best tournament of fellowship going. Two things that were very important to me that inspired me to continue to fight the good fight in electric football were: (1) Ernie Grice, coming to me and telling me of a time ago when I wrote him about his disillusion in the game. I encouraged him to continue to play the game and enjoy it. I know I have had that conversation with EFLers from time-to-time but I was very touched to know that Ernie thought that much to come up to me and acknowledge what I did for him. (2) Mark Ilfresh telling me that he drove all the way to Virginia just to meet me. Mark and I spent many hours to gather and for me, that was exciting. One last thanks to the MFU committee for "Lifetime Achievement" Award. It was truly something special to be acknowledged by your peers as someone who has had a significant impact on the game. It makes a lot of what happens in the game worthwhile. My brothers like Wally Jabs, Jim Jackson, and Biglock were not able to come but I definitely had them on my mind. I know there are many people I am leaving out in my thanks and acknowledgements but I definitely hope to see you down the road, possibly in Texas. Seawall Brawl
Hello Everyone,
First off I want to thank Jimbo and Don for the great job for putting on such an event . This was my first experience at a tournament or even playing competively and it was so exciting. I enjoyed every practice and game and learned so much from everyone I competed against. I learned different styles and strategies , man it was a tremendous learning experience. I really appreciate the time spent with Anthony Burgess on his style of playing, words cannot describe how taken back I was with this system and cant wait to try it out against people around here . I was so excited to meet people and see the talent out there first hand like Megawatts, doing great on some customizing figures now also. Dwayne Jennings on taking time to talk to me and your comments on my Gamecock team really made me feel good, hopefully I can do some more good work on the other figures I got from Chris Fields. I really enjoyed seeing people and putting a face now with the names on this board, everyone made me feel at home and some had encouraging words and advice that I will not forget and treasure. Beenutt you did a fantastic job on the skill contest and I didnt do that well on them but was glad to see how much work I got to do to come up with the best out there. Now for the most memorable experience I had was meeting you Mr. Reggie Rutledge, your work is Awesome. The customizing class has got me so pumped up on another aspect of this great hobby to get into. Your demonstration on your board and how well your figures performed and were coached by you to run your plays are outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed our time together and learning from you really put the icing on the cake to speak on the entire weekend that was fabulous. I look foward to seeing you again and talk EFL or even better SEC football. Also, congratulations to all the winners DC great job!! Adrian Baxter , Green Room Rumble Champion All the winners of the skills competitions too Cant wait until next year and hope to see some of you at the Dixie league Take care, and I hope everyone had a safe trip home . Two Times! Two Times!
Congradulations!
You know something D.C. Smith? Your alright with me! You've got a smooth kind of magic working for you on the board and I was impressed. Keep doing what you do! Winning the Brawl. "Kid" your going places! I hope it's back to school! "Who keeps letting these kids in the room? You'll know these kids mess up my game! D.C. maybe we can get that game of pool next year? Oh well it's back to the bum fights! Simmie(chk sp.),another rascal somebody let get in the room. Although I was nearly "Crushed", I hope I showed you the testicular fortitude of the B-more male . Dats right! 3rd and 8 at my own five. I'm coming straight up the middle! "Good Job Fellas!" You survived a late night Green room rumble, the best coaches from around the country and a well time power outage to get to the big dance! There's a new age coming in "EF" and you two rascals have opened the door! |
