Default Roger Craig...

was also the first 1000/1000 man and the only RB to lead the league in receptions.

Default hershel

Hershel was a great runner - he probably should be in the hall of fame. The Hall of Fame is the pro football hall of fame not the NFL hall of fame. So, the USFL numbers should count.

Default Oh...

He's worth without the USFL numbers. Over 18,000 All-purpose yds. AND THE ONLY MAN IN NFL HISTORY WITH AT LEAST 4,000 RUSHING, RECEIVING AND RETURN YDS.

Default hof game........

Sure we can add many players to the list of snubs, but the fact that he played on these teams in the early 90's. The numbers do not add up for him to get in before those with better numbers.

I'm with you CorEy, for a team that has 5 rings most of those players should be giving better praise for their body of work, too.

R.Craig (not enough carrer numbers except SB victories) and J.Taylor (he was to Jerry Rice what Stallworth is to Swann)

So there are a lot of playes that fall in this file.

Default That's why we play the game!

We can have any and all players on our MF teams and call them our personal HOFers. If only we could get coaches to commit to one team and compile stats around the country and then have our own version of HOF elections, for instance, I think I have the BEST Mike Alstott in the country, when he hits 10,000yds I'll retire him and then 2 years later WE - the MF Community - can vote him into the MFHOF. Now, how the heck do we keep track of individual stats? Who wants to head that up and how do we keep everyone honest? Do we keep stats at Tourneys and start from 0 in 2007? That would be cool if we could find an honest way of doing this.

I'd definitly be intrested in being in charge of that. There were talks of a hall of fame before but I don't know if that ever fell through. We could have two divisions, solitare and regular. At the end of every year/season coaches will be able to nominate 1 player from there league. Then we can either choose a panel or have everyone be able to vote. If anyone else has any other ideas to contribute lets hear them.

Default Whats wrong with Art.....

I know I'm going to here it from all the deadskin fans....

Let me tell ya whats wrong with him and why he will NEVER get into the HOF....

I personally had 3 experiences with him off the field and they all ended the same. and let me tell ya...If there ever was a male version of DEVA...its ART MONK!

I've seen little kids wait in line for 3 plus hours for an autograph and when they get to the table he says..."I'm not signing anything for you, if you want my autograph, buy one of my pictures for 35 bucks and then I'll sign my picture!".....I seen it with my own eyes. more then once. I couldn't believe what I saw, I asked him why he wouldn't sign the football the kid had, and he looked straight in my face and said. "I DON'T GET PAID TO SIGN THOSE THINGS" I felt like punching him right in the mouth.

another.....

When I was in Minn for the first MPS tourney and was sitting with Joey Browner....Yes the same Joey that played for the Vikings....and he was telling me stories of Art acting like a spoiled brat that couldn't get his way.....Hmmm sounds allot like the WR's today. He also mention that Art got such a bad rep that nobody wanted to be around him, like he was black balled because he didn't want to do anything outside of football without being paid first.

I spent close to 90 minutes picking Joey's brain....the man told some good stories about a number of players in the league that is on a "black ball" list. There is such a bond in the players like a brotherhood he says, and Art just didn't fit that mold.

After seeing the way Art acted at a training camp for youth football here locally in the MD / DC area, and that HE doesn't even participate in, but uses his name..."ART MONK TRAINING CAMP" it only shows that some people are in it only for the money and not the love of the sport.

When it comes to the things he did on the field, well his numbers are good, but he will never get into the HOF if he continues to act like he does. Sure you can smoke crack and get into the HOF ask LT....but act as if your better then your league mates...then thats a different story. I guess they kind of "punish" their own and this is one way to do it.

Default That makes a lot sense

That could be it stoner. Even tho I think those guys should be judged by what they did on the field, out the field conduct will creep into the decision process. Me personally, I was never a big Art Monk fan. He put up good numbers. But when I look back, he was never the best WR on his own team? I use to buy those year books(street&smiths, sporting news) back then, and they would rate players, monk was always honorable mention. Behind names like Largent, Roy Green, Mike Quick, James Lofton, Charlie Brown, and so forth. So I guess when you look at his career, plus the fact that the players didn't like him, that could be his hold up.
I can hear Lomax, and those Md guys ready to rip you Stoner, you better not show up at the WF!!!

Default my main reason for nominating Hershel

The best fact supporting Hershel's case for the HOF:

Hershel single handedly gave the Cowboys 3 rings in 4 years - just by being traded. Nobody in the history of the NFL has done so much to help a team win.
