Default 2007 Hall of Fame Class

This years NFL hall of fame class is as followed
Michael Irving
Thurman Thomas
Bruce Matthews
Roger Wehrli
Charlie Sanders
Gene Hickerson

This looks like its a pretty good hall of fame class but I feel there were 3 major snubs this year.

1. Paul Tagliabue
Former Commish wasn't elected in his first year of eleigbility. Now I know he'll make it in the future but I definitly think he deserved to make it his first year. He was able to get huge television deals for the NFL. The only thing against him was he never was able to bring a team back to L.A.

2. Derrick Thomas
He is one of 22 players to record 100 sacks or more in his career, and ranks 5th all time on the Chiefs record book for tackles. He also was voted rookie of the year and made nine pro bowls. And all of this was just 10 seasons in to his career which was cut down by that devastating car crash which caused him to lose his life. Had he played for a few years after that I'm sure he'd be remembered as one of the greatest LBs of all time. I'm sure he'll make the Hall of Fame in the future but he definitly deserves to go soon.

3. Art Monk
He seems to get snubbed every year. He played in 3 super bowls with the Redskins and won one of them. He was also one of the most humble players to ever play the game. I also hope he makes it to the Hall of Fame but after getting passed on many times I think his time is running out.

If anyone else has any snubs they'd like to make there case for the Hall of Fame let's hear them.

As I said in a previous post it is a disgrace that Art Monk continues to be overlooked. He should have been a first ballot inductee years ago hands down. The people who are voting for the inductees should be ashamed of themselves. I have no problems with the other inductees but for Art Monk not to be included is a crime. Just my .02 cents worth.

Tagliabue should not have been on the ballot in the 1st place. he has to wait 5 years just like the rest, but congrats to the class of 2007

Default It is awful to see what has been done

to Art Monk. How does Irvin get in before a guy that has about 150 more receptions and 2000 more yards? I know that Irvin has 3 rings but Monk has 2. They need to get his yellow coat size and chisel out his bust and put him in immediately.

To again pass over a another "nice guy" in favor of a 'bad guy - crack head' just because he likes to talk .... sad.......... For the record on Art Monk

AT the time he retired:
All time leader in pass receptions (980 passing Charley Taylor -HOF)
!st modern era (post 1970) receiver to catch 100 passes in a season (1984 with 106) played in 3 SuperBowls winning 2, would have played in 4 but broke leg while leading them in the regular season.
Longest consecutive reception streak (surpassing Steve Largent -HOF)

Default It is criminal that Monk is not in...

But it is not Michael Irvin's fault that the reporters are jerks so let's not take cheap shots at him. He should be in (and I am not saying he deserves to be in over Monk before someone yells at me for that.) Hercshel Walker deserves to be in there but will probably never get a sniff of the "Hall of Shame". And I am not a Cowboy fan before anybody says that is the only reason I am saying this. That's right, I know how you think. That's right.

These voters contradic themselves all of the time when it is to the benefit of their favorites. If a guy has boderline numbers and championships they say it is all about numbers. If a guy Has gaudy numbers and no championships they say it is about winning. Monk has both but because he was not "media friendly" he has to suffer. I feel as though the "Hall" has no credibility whatsoever because of this. Lynn Swann has to wait thirteen years to get in because he retired "too early" for them, Nick Bonuconti (sp) is in but Harry Carson has to wait soooooo long because he didn't have a son who got paralyzed. Carson is waaaaaay better than Bonuconti, Walker has better numbers than Gale Sayers (and I know people are going to throw six TDs in my face but by that logic Timmy Smith with 202 super Bowl rushing yds should be in also). John Riggins is in but not his best blocker Russ Grimm (also criminal). I could go on but I'm just saying the "Hall" is a bunch of bull crap.

Default how about another Cowboy - Bob Hayes

My vote for the forgotten is Bob Hayes. I was just a kid, but I remember watching his speed and I remember how he changed the game of football. He brought speed to the NFL and made defenses gameplan to account for his speed that had never been seen before.

Default Snubbed

How about Roger Craig? 3 Super Bowls, should've been MVP vs the Dolphins. The player in history to go 1,000/1,000!
John Taylor is overlooked because he played with Rice.
Dre, H. Carson is in. What about C. Banks & W. Marshall, those guys were awesome. I don't think H. Walker will get in. He spent his best years running in the USFL.

Andre Reed was also passed over. Irvin was worthy, doesn't matter what he did off the field. That guy was money. And being a 49ers fan, he was a pain in my team's side!
