New figures being produced
Hello everyone,
I am in the process of beginning to produce electric football figures. I have researched various sculptors and process companies to make this a reality. I fully realize the challenge of competing with the other companies that are doing this. However my focus will be on realistic looking figures. The advantage for me in doing this is seeing the products of others and taking those and seeing where changes are needed. That said, I feel that all the prodcust out there have advantages and dissadvantages but I'm looking for some feedback to see what the EFL commmunity is looking for in my figures. For example: Do you want to see single piece vs. put together pieces? Do you want facemasks on the figure or none? What position would be best to produce first? Are pre-snap figures or post-snap figures preferred? I have artwork for each position in what I consider "signature" poses but would like some feedback on poses you would like to see. I'm not looking to make a ton of money oln these figures but would rather put out some top-line realistically detailed figures that could further enhance our hobby. If all goes well I will look at sideline figures after that. All figures will be American produced and made. Thanks, Mike |

New figures...
Mike,
Good luck with your endeavor. It'll be great to have more figures for the community. The figures I'd like to see produced first are the O-linemen. Distinguishing between centers, guards, and tackles would be great. Next I'd like to see some quality poses in the defensive secondary. Again... Good luck to you, and I look forward to purchasing your figs when they become available. There's no rush, so take your time. Peace, OldSchool |

Set a high goal for yourself!
Nothing wrong with making some money.Like Old school said.OL poses would be great.Esp 3 pt stance poses.I like figs to come assembled not on sprews. You might want to consider weight of the various leagues and use a good color white like the haitis.Reg figs are very easy to create custom poses from.they are easy to cut.Better know,I do not care how cool your poses are, someone is going to do a custom with your figs or hybrids. Why not come out with poses from each position and see what sells and go from there.Check out Mcfarlanes also.they got nice poses.Keep in mind, they need to perform, not just look good.Hmmm reminds me of ---- Cannot go there h aha good luck!STT

Mike,
It is a positive that you enter the business aspect of this hobby with low expectations. Fact is you are very unlikely to make money, and probably would be lucky to recoup your initial investment. So, if your statement represents your true feelings, that is one thing you have going for you immediately. Now, I have always wanted more reaslitic figures. Bill and I thought about making some in the past year, but decided against it. When we were thinking about creating some new poses, we liked the idea of seperate parts that you can put together to make unique poses. I have some ideas and if you want them, PM me and I will share with you what I have thought about. Good luck with your project, I hope it works well, and if you succeed, I will be happy to support your venture. Mark Klingbeil |

thanks for the support
My first inclination was for OL pieces since there is really a void for them. The three point stance is my personal favorite but I question whether people would buy them in any quantity to use. Here's another pose I'm considering:
Also I'm thinking about making the pieces in realtive size...lineman being bigger then running backs, wide receivers etc. |

You have gotten some good advice
Mark speaks from experience, so take his advice for sure. There's a couple guys right in detroit, that create their own figs. Now if you could make molds of some that stuff..... Also John Wright out of the Md area is skilled in the figure making process.
For starters, go with what would be best for you from a business aspect. Whatever you come out with..know Nat'l will be there to support. good luck, Mr. NATIONAL

Thanks for the advice...I will be having molds made to produce the figures in larger quantities. I have already contracted with a company to produce them once the prototypes are done and the molds are made.

GOOD LUCK AND CONGRAT'S WITH EHAT YOU ARE DOING
EFG
it's great to hear/see another person in the hobby taking the initiative to create something new for all coaches to enjoy. You ever hear of "book it and they will come." Anyone wgo makes a great lookng product coaches will buy. Everyone alway's want's that new pose. I love the idea of making lineman bigger than the other players. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE POST SNAP FIGURES. Linebackers digging in getting ready to hit. Safties in hot pursuit. Whatever is made im sure it will be great. What is the estimated weight per figure you are aiming for ? MANTARAYDRE

Mike,
I would prefer linemen in posess like the Bengal and Bears. I also like to peice my figure together. Figures on sprues make it alot easier to paint. Make them decal friendly. A good facemask molded onto the figure with a chinstrap would be nice. When are you going to start producing these figures? |
