Default WHAT IS THE COST TO HAVE FIGURES PRODUCED.

Coaches,

What is the cost to have FIGURES OR BASES produced. What is the initial cost for the molds to be made and the first run on either. What is that coaches name who everyone loves his figures. I think he lives in virginia. I have heard coaches rave for years about his figures. I also think i heard the initial set up for everything is about $15,000. (could be wrong on that dollar amout). What i am getting at is with 200 plus members, we now have the horses to maybe get something done. If 100 members invested $100, that's $10, 000 in the kitty. There may be coaches who will go $200 or $300 to see this happen. One day in texas, kevin boddie and i were discussing figures and he mentioned what if the MFCA had it's own figures made. Im sure you can do almost anything if many people wanted to see it done and acted on it.

CHRIS ROBINSON !!! That's the guy's name in virginia, it just hit me. I never saw one of his figures but coaches go on and on about what his figures look like. JUST IMAGINE BAGS OF THAT AT YOUR DISPOSAL ! This could fly with an investment of $100 to $150 ) Imagine if 150 to 175 said im in. Then it would cheaper for all(less than $100 per coach). You will get your money back in incredible figures and more. DOES ANYONE HAVE PIC'S OF CHRIS ROBINSONS WORK

I can tell you that a prototype piece costs $300.00 to sculpt. That's PER piece. The mold will cost double that PER PIECE. Then comes the production and depending on the company doing the producing what their minimum quantitites are.

A plastic injection mold for two pieces.. is gonna run ya $5500 in the USA..

And it goes up about $1000 for each additional piece.. So a 7 figure mold is gonna run you upwards of $10,500.. and that's if they are 1 piece figures.. and.. they do it in one mold..

If you go the CAD drawing route to get the specs to the mold maker.. (I'm guessing cuz I've never done figures, just bases).. A 2 piece base/dial was around $1000 for the drawings..

And if you make enough figures to break even??

I'd say you're gonna have $25,000 to $30,000 in it.. sell them all and break even.

Default Thanks to...

..Thanks to all the coaches that have put up that kind of $$$ for us to have figures bases etc. I know we all want the next best thing and that's fine. But I want to continue to support the innovators that we currently have the FF.com, Buzzball, 5-13 studio's, g-force and all not mentioned. Let's figure out how to get an affordable working scoreboard. Money to better our(Mfca) magazine. Support what we have so to not lose what we have. And when other innovators produce MF supplies we'll support them.

The prices I put out there were for plastic injection molds...

If you can take the time, and have the talent.. (that lets me out.. lol), you can do a pour mold yourself for a minute fraction of the cost.. There are others actually experienced in pour mold applications.. they'd have to answer an additional questions on that.

That's the route I've been researching. I'm going to invest in it this year sometime and do the work myself. Trial by error/R&D style. I'm going to start by trying a 5 figure mold first and see where it goes from there.
