Default ACME Packers - Old Time Team

As many of you saw (and heard), I have a Bruce Watts Lambeau Field (below). I'm a huge Packers fan and wanted kind of a signature field that had the same look and feel as Lambeau but was easily portable, etc.

I've always had the idea to do an ACME Packers all-time team to pay tribute to the uniforms and squad that joined the league in the early 1920's. They were blue & gold as Lambeau was a Notre Dame alum (same guy who built Notre Dame stadium built the original Lambeau too).

Originally, I contacted Chris Fields to design a leather helmet and thought I'd do it myself. However, once I saw the Sid Luckman that he entered in the contest, I knew that anything I did wouldn't touch the authenticity that he puts into his work. I should receive the squad this week but Chris was kind enough to send me pics of the defense...

They'll definitely be at the Canton event...

This is a picture of the defense...offense pics coming soon. I can't wait! Unbelievable job!

Default How Do You Do It

What I find to be intriguing about the figures is how the worn and dirty look of the uniforms vary among each player on the team.

Very nice Tom!

Why didn't you tell me you wanted them dirty? I would've painted them that way, or tossed them outside for a day or two after I painted them.

Default ACME

Very funny Guttmann. You're an awesome painter and your "Wide Right" display is a thing of beauty.

It was only when I saw Chris' Sid Luckman and read the articles he had on the drybrush technique, I knew that this was the exact feel that I wanted for that team.

Besides, you still paint?? I thought you were now exclusively into handing Raiderman and Pratt their lunch and bringing home tournament hardware

Talk about an original team - they are really beautiful. Can't wait to see them in Canton.

Default Absolutely gorgious

Tom,you have something to really behold since you love that old school field and players. You had two of the best working on your projects and i know you will always love playing on that field with those players.I am lucky enough to know and play in Columbus with both of those talented men (Bruce and Chris)who i am proud to have as friends. Have fun and keep that passion.
