Default Has the hobby evolved past Miggle ?

I had a nice conversation with D. Jennings the other day and it made me think. Do we need Miggle anymore? It seems as though the hobby is evolving more toward the miniatures end of the hobby. We all play the game still but I know I spend more of my time customizing and creating figures and teams.

Miggle's website often goes un-updated ( same paint colors for 2 years now) and I'm sure orders are way down since they lost their NFL license.

I pose this question not to slam Miggle but to ponder whether or not they have become passe now. Does the hobby even need them? No new products, no NFL, no action on the website.... should the company be sold or dissolved? Couldn't the hobby move forward without them?

Things to ponder....

NO ,

I think they are necessary for many reasons. They help to grow the hobby with their conventions and I still see their boards at some toy and hobby shops . They are the entry level car at the car lot , like a Honda Civic. This site is more like a advanced version like a Ferrari .
Or Miggle is like the wolverines and this site is like the BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!! michigan guys will understand what I mean.

Unless someone can mass produce a electric football board , bases , figures , etc and market it to the masses , we may loose the future generations of this game. I think Miggle is the only company doing that right now and we need to see them keep doing that .

Default No way!

Most of us still buy stuff from them. I still get my bases from them and the occasional odd & end item (refs, cheerleaders, paint, figs, etc). It's still a great site for the beginner or those returning to the hobby.

Also, I think many still enjoy the Miggle convention. I've gone 2 years in a row and will try to make them as often as possible.

Could they stand for a makeover....perhaps, but they are still very relevant to me.

Thumbs up "I second that emotion"

Miggle is to EF what Advance Auto Parts/Auto Zone/Pep Boys are to repair shops........reasonably $priced items at fair market #prices. Obviously if you want OEM then you see the Masters of The trade $$$or your Auto dealers parts dept$$,$$$ you have to read this in "auto repair mindset mode In the end they are very relevant and so are the producers of EF items that have evolved from within EF

Default We still need Miggle

NO!!!!! We still need Miggle for the entry level products. I think they could just go back to unpainted figures. Bases are a must. How many of you have a majority of Miggle bases on your teams? They are still the ones I refer people to for the basics needed to get started with.

The short answer....Yes, we still need Miggle.

They make some of the items that our staples of our hobby....particularly bases. Although Buzzball makes some nice bases (The best speed bases are Speed Diamonds....but they would be even better if they would convert to a wider/bigger platform size to accomodate the larger figures)....and ITZ dials are very cool....the best basic bases for strength and performance overall are the newer Prolines that are available through Miggle. The '67 big men are still fine figures for the hobby as well. I hope to see Miggle focus more on providing top notch bases, figures and such for the hobby. Forget the NFL/NCAA licensing.
