Default Here is what you missed if you missed the MFCA Convention...some random thoughts...

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who made the effort to come to the 2009 MFCA Convention. In my opinion the convention and CBSMF tourney was a huge success, thanks to a tremendous amount of effort by some very outstanding people. The list is very long, so here are a few people, who I would like to recognize.

1. Lynn Schmidt-From planning, to tickets...to well...EVERYTHING...Lynn is the engine that drives the MFCA.
2. Reginald Rutledge-Thank you for being a part of our convention, it was a great tourney and everyone enjoyed it emencely.
3. Will Travers-For all of his help before, during and after the convention.
4. Tim Young-Huge help in giving relief at the registration table.
5. All the coaches from the CBSMF who volunteered their time to ref games and help setup. It was great to meet all of you guys for the first time and hang with all of my current buds.

and finally...a man that must be recognized...John Martin. John was a huge part of why we had success. With listing points of interest (we will forget about the Motel 6), providing transportation, being our contact with the Sterns Center and providing food, beer, drinks, the tailgating party and for being a guide in Canton...John is simply the most important piece of the MFCA Convention puzzle and everyone should give him a big thank you. Now to the list....

I am really looking forward to the fall issue of The Tweak...this is going to be the best issue ever! If you did not make the trip some of the following "random thoughts" will make no sense to you, so you better buy a fall issue if you want to know what all these meant...but for those of you that did make it...prepare to laugh all over again...

A short list of some of the things that happened at the convention or some random thoughts...

1. GERMAN CHICKS!!!!!
2. "Shake the Box"!
3. Steaks, Cigars and a fire
4. "Let me show you something" Frank Jacobs impression.
5. Speaking of Frank Jacobs..."Exacto Knife incoming!"
6. Mr. National loses the letters "al" and becomes "Nation"
7. Dan the parking Czar picks up the title "International".
8. "Party story time" with Corey Johnson.
9. "Togetherness" at the Hall of Fame game...especially with Bodie and Corey.
10. Where is Lynn's camera?
11. The shower at John Martin's house...
12. "Tent city"
13. Kid at the PFUFA event..."Get out your $5"
14. "Alarm Pads"
15. Steve Martin does a little dance.
16. Culp loses the kicking final, but provides excitement in the "Lynn Carnival Game"
17. Three words "Posters for sale"
18. Ken and Matt become good friends.
19. Late to bed...early to rise.
20. First "real" size scoreboard used to score a game in MF history.
21. DOG TAGS!
22. First time meetings.
23. "Cigars anyone"
24. NFL stars
25...Finally...love that M*A*S*H theme...

So if you want to hear the "complete" story of the convention...get ready for a "Tweak" for the ages!!!

Here are some photos to tide you over....Lynn has all the good photos anyway

ENJOY!!!

Default Matt, it was definitely a real pleasure

I've got to say this about Matt. If you don't know Matt, you're not sure how to take Matt. I was real apprehensive about hanging around this guy because I did not want to offend him in any manner. You never know how people are gonna take your persona.

However, when I arrived in Canton, Matt was one of the very first people to greet me and ask me, "What can I do to help you Reg?" As Matt began to assess where he could help make our playoffs run, I began to think "It's a shame we have these preconceived ideas of people without even getting to know them. What a shame." Anyways, Matt was like a right hand for anything that needed to get done.

I've not met a more nicer MF'er than Matt and I will always be glad to see him. By the end of the events, he had volunteered to work the scoreboard in the gym for the time and scoring. He said, "I'll do it Reg. This is fun". I thought Matt was crazy!!! I tried to feed Matt and get him something to drink and asked him several times with him steadily refusing me. He just wanted to be a part of the show and help. I walked away thinking I may have misjudged this very good guy in the game. I always thought Matt was abrupt and did not like me but I walked away with a whole different perspective. Events like this is very important because it bridges gaps and puts things to rest.

I know Matt has a tournament in his area every year. I will definitely try to make my way up there to support what he's doing because of his gesture of friendship to me and what I was trying to do with this CBSMF thing.

Thanks Matt and when you come to Texas, you're definitely welcomed in the Rutledge home!!!

From Reg and Rose Rutledge

Default Hey Matt

Thanks for the kind words, but you guys are the ones that put on the show & what a show it was. The MFCA staff, Reg and his group, and all the coaches that came from all around the country to engage in some good fellowship, football and a good time.

Secondly: -I said the Motel 6 was in a good area, not that it was a good hotel.
- Lynn, is that a salute or are you shading the lights from your eyes?
- Is my corrected shirt coming?
