Our figures seem to be about 28mm-30mm scale...buzzball and FF.net are ~28mm from feet to eyes, while the hati repro are a touch smaller, closer to 25mm and big men a touch larger more closer to 30mm. Overall 28mm is a probably a pretty good label for our set of available figures. Also for a clearer understanding, the 28mm scale is really is a 1/58 scale, meaning a 1" miniature would represent a 58" original.
I think the O scale is more like 37mm scale (1/43.5) so they will be slightly bigger figures. If you want them smaller then what is on the field, you could go with model railroad OO scale (21.2mm or 1/76) or the HO scale (18.5mm or 1/87). I would think the smaller figures and accessories for items off of the field is better because it can create almost a percpective from the field vantage point where things are smaller as you get farther from the field. Hope this helps. Joe

Joe is correct
Our figures are roughly 28mm and that is a popular miniatures figure scale these days. My wargaming miniatures collection is at 1/72 or roughly 22mm (about 1 inch high), and I wish that EF figs were also about that small. That would make the current fields more accuratly sized and lessen the need for monster boards if that's what you want. As far as making the figs easier to hit with a pass when playing with rules that require TTC passers you can always create devises to accomodate for that such as pass boards, and those would be more realistic anyway since WR's can reach.
And yes we can achieve virtually the same painting detail at that smaller scale, but I am not sure if the decals would suffer.
