My first custom figure : Niners center
Hi,
Tonight before diner I had a little spare time, so I decided to make my first try on customizing miniature football figures. My goal is to reproduce the Center of the 49ers, Mr Heitmann, #66, in a typical center scrimmage position. For my project, I started with a FF.net center figure ("The Squatter", sorry I did'nt took a pic of it) : I started to heavily modify it. I first cutted it in spare parts (I cutted the right shoulder too after I took the pic): I cutted the feet, because I wanted to spread the legs and glue the feet in a good anatomic position. Finally, the feet are more larger than the figure base, but not larger than a TTC base. I cutted shoulder pads, arms, and remove the edge on helmet, and also the facemask and face of the figure (since I'll add a photo etched facemask, I'll resculpt the face of Heitmann, with the moustache and chin strap ). I also cutted the left hand, to pose it more naturally on the athlete knee, and modify the arm and shoulder to make a correct shape. Here 's the result for now (ossry for the pics quality, my camera has difficulties to focus macro pics on bad light) : Next step : scupt a football, and add the right arm. Then, sculpt the athlete face. After that, make a realistic anatomy for mr Heitmann and correct some points (shoulder alignement, muscles shape, things like that). to be continued... Dimitri |

Sheeeesh!
You're going to sculpt the face! Wow. If only it wouldn't cost me a ka-billion francs to make and ship I'd have you make me one.
Keep up the good work D!

thank you !
I had an issue with glueing the figure...I used cyanolite glue ("super glue") it didn't work really good...I should have known that, since the figures are quite soft (usually, I prefer to glue this type of plastic with styren glue).
I tried to consolidate my work with a "chemical soldering" with acetone. We'll see, but tommorow I have to buy dedicated glue since I'll have (to begin) 25 custom figures to do... I guess styrene glue (the glue used for plastic kits, like Airfix or Heller) is the way ? thanks, Dimitri EDIT : but I just readed that Reginald advises cyanolite glue... I guess my glue is perhaps too old (quite thick super glue...I buy it in "pro" 50grams bottle, and the glue becomes sometimes too thick and dry...) tomorrow I'll buy super glue and styren glue. I 'll post feedback on both. Last edited by the french guy : 10-05-2009 at 03:40 PM. |

I didn't know that photobucket pics was unavailable to some people :o (because of an office proxy perhaps ?). I use photobucket because it's usefull to spread info on this forum and on the french forum I go too.
But anyway, I'll upload pics on the website now, no problem. I'll start now : |
