![]() COACHES,
Upon watching old game clips on the NFL network. Also just watched the undefeated dolphins and redskins superbowl saturday night. WHY DOES IT SEEM THAT BACK IN THE DAY THE PLAYERS SEEMED ALOT MORE RUMBLE TUMBLE THAN THEY DO NOW ? Ditka said back then you get your lunch pale and go to work. Everything was dirt and grass and the hitting seemed way more severe. I guess back then football was not all of this extra las vegas show type of situation. The running backs seem that they ran harder back then also. It was none of this dome garbage, it was the players and the elements. WHO IS THE TOUGHEST PLAYER YOU EVER SAW ??? FOR ME DEACON JONES hands down MANTARAYDRE

I have over 500 actual nfl broadcast games from 60's and 70's in their entirety. The players back then did not make a lot of money, most of them had trivial jobs in the off season to help support themselves. Thus when they played the game for literally no money, they were actually playing the game they loved. The players did hit harder back then, they did not have a lot of rules that protect the players as they do today. In watching some of these games you truly can see the running backs hitting the hole faster and being more aggressive. That was football at it's finest, now it's strictly entertainment and if you watch the game to hard there will be a 15 yard penalty against you, way too many rules and penalties. I have the best of both worlds when speaking on this topic, I have the actual games from yesteryear and i'm seeing the new games of today. NO COMPARISON, bring back the old style of NFL football. Hardest hitter of all time, that's easy #51 Dick Butkus, I have many games from the bears in the late 60's and I enjoy watching him just destroy ball carriers like no one else. Just my take. I have all the actual broadcast games from the bears 1967 season and 10 games from the 1966 season. The Kingpin |

![]() HEY VINCE,
Im shocked how much faster and harder the running backs approached the line of scrimmage back then. Everything you said is 100% correct. I HOPE YOU HAVE ALL OF THESE GAME TRANSFERED OVER TO DIGITAL SO YOU DO NOT LOSE THEM AND HAVE A BACKUP. (TREASURES) it's like a different world. It makes you want to just watch footage from back then. JUST LIKE THE BOXING OF YESTERDAY. AINT NO COMPARISON. WHAT HAPPEND TO SPORTS IN GENERAL ? The players from back then must laugh at the players today. Also probably feel they dont deserve the money the make. THESE DUDES BCK THEN WILL KNOCK YOUR HEAD OFF AND RUN YOU OVER. Like vince said, JUST BECAUSE THEY LOVED THE GAME. MANTARAYDRE

![]() there are a lot of rules coming in to protect players. I think that it is a good thing that we are protecting players more (the amount of disability in many of the old time players is staggering!). The game has changed (I was never around for the 'good ol days'), but the high flying, fast paced, Wild cat, high scoring 'video-game' esque version of football seems to be the way of the future. That being said... I am sure that as the league gets too pass happy some one will start to smack teams around and the pendulum will swing back the other way.
