![]() These 2 played many great playoff games against each other in the late 60's and early to mid 70's . This one was a classic too. Roman Gabriel found Willie Ellison in the endzone on 4th and 4 on the last play of regulation to send the game into overtime, The Rams won the toss and drove down field and kicked a 30 yard field goal to advance to the next round. Great old players represented on these 2 teams include: Gabriel 18, Jack Snow 84, Merlin Olsen 74, Deacon Jones 75, Willie Ellison 33, Lamar Lundy 85, Rosey Grier 76, Dick Bass 22, for the Rams. For the Vikings : Joe Kapp 11, Dave Osborn 41, Bill Brown 30, Gene Washington 84, Carl Eller 81, Alan Page 88, Jim Marshall 70 , Chuck Foreman 44 , and WV's own Lonnie Warwick 59 playing Middle Linebacker. Next game will go back to the AFL and feature the Raiders vs the Oilers. http://capanther.tripod.com Last edited by capanther : 07-11-2010 at 11:42 PM. |

![]() Any time the Rams beat the Vikings, it's a good day in my books.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ohh, by the way, you should put Olsen and Deacon on the other side, they both played the left line positions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() this loss!
That Vikes team is my favorite of all times! I liked the Rams and Willie Ellison and R. Gabriel but how do the Purple People Eaters lose in a close one to the Rams!!! Keep doing it coach! Reg |

![]() I remember when the Rams went to Minnesota in December of 69 and lost a heart breaker for them 23-20. Carl Eller sacked Gabriel for a saftey near the end of the game. And Joe Kapp ran that bootleg that seamed to take forever, and I couldnt believe anyone from the rams couldnt catch him before he scored ....haha...I also remember in the mid 70's when the Rams had drove down the field and then had a Tom Dempsey field goal blocked that the Vikings ran back for a TD that pretty much sealed the Rams fate during the Chuck Knox years. The Rams and the Vikings had some real battles during playoff time for sure.

![]() games. The one that you talk about is the 1974 NFC Divisional title game that Bobby Bryant raced back over 80 yards to seal the victory for the Vikes. I remember watching that game and thinking, "We are doomed" only to see the kick getting blocked. I think Marshall or Matt Blair blocked it. I will have to go back and look at that one.
