THE PILL FOOTBALL COMPROMISE.
COACHES,
leagues who are on the fence or interested in using this football for your members. You can compromise if you feel the ball is too big. Hopefully the mfca ruleset will allow these for all its members. You can simply state that if a coach is going to use said football. 1)he must pull his qb 10 to 15 yards back form his original throwing position or 2)In order to use, the wr must be AT LEAST 20 yards down field. Both scenarios would balance out any too big for the player and accuracy issues. for examp. if your qb is on the 25 yardline left side of the hash mark throwing to a wr on the right hand side. He must move that qb back to the 10 yardline same position then make the throw. If you have a leagemate who wishes to use this the, throw will be much harder for him. Also, it the football knocks the wr over. he is down at the spot and cannot advance the football. Just a thought for those who mind using it. mantaraydre

Good stuff Dre!
Here's another idea, STOP BANNING THINGS AT THE LEAGUE LEVEL! If a coach is using Geno's TDQ to throw the "pill" at one of three Frankensteined boat base receivers he has, then don't hate on that coach, instead work on how to defend him better, apply more pressure and prevent him from getting in this position in the first place. Banning equipment is not the way to go. The "if you can't beat it, then ban it" mentality has to go to the wayside. Don't stifle growth, let if flourish.

sweet.
IM WITH YOU SHABBY J. IT'S WAYY TOO MANY BANS ON ELECTRIC FOOTBALL ITEMS. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT IS MADE SHOULD BE ALLOWED. MORE THAN 2 BOAT BASES MORE THAN 2 COVER CORNERS PILL BALLS. PLAY BETTER DEFENSE TO STOP IT OR BETTER OFFENSE TO SCORE ON THE COVER CORNERS. STOP BANNING THINGS EF WORLD ALLOW IT ALL. BANNING THINGS SHOWS LACK OF SKILLS. UT OH, NOT MEANING TO OFFEND ANYONE, JUST A COMMENT.

I agree with Shabby completely, so at my next game, I will be playing with my new football. I have yet to miss a pass with it all though my yards after the catch has something to be desired.
There are reasons for standards. Shabby, I love to argue with you!!

the pill
coaches,
The pill football is really not that much bigger than the miggle felt football. it is pretty close to the ice cream football. its amazing, a boat base is allowed which is bigger than the standard base but a football that is slightly bigger is banned. What is the diff. you put boat bases on figures (which im 100% for) to get receivers open a little easier, but a football is banned because it may work for some. what gives ? I see boats with diamond speed bases under them which is even more of an advantage. what gives? some claim genos tdq is unfair, WHERE DO YOU SEE THAT ? ITS THE SAME MAKE UP OF A QB PRETTY MUCH. if you see an offensive line filled with boats, can you stop them them ? Mantaraydre

No products should be banned
Any new or innovative products that are created by someone should be allowed in play. If we are going to use what was first created by Tudor, then why even bother with innovation. I believe all the products created by our sponsers are tremendous additions to minature football. We should make the game more playable for all involved and to enhance the probability in getting newbies interested in the game!

Rant on (forgive me for this ... but I just can't stand it anymore)
I think the biggest reason for "standards" in this hobby is so that the same old group of guys get to win every year. Outlawing the TDQ is bogus. If you think it is so great, then use it. I see plenty of coaches keeping their TTQB's....so, either they can't afford a TDQ, or there really isn't that much benefit from the item. The problem for some is that the TDQ made other coaches more competitive and made winning that championship or game that much harder (it can't possibly be that the coach has improved his game, or tweaking, or whatever...it has to be the new toy)....cry me a river. Same argument against the larger football which isn't that much larger at all and knocks receivers down enough to cause grief for those that use it. No problem...I will just spray a smaller ball with hairspray till it is as hard as stone and get the same results....except now you probably won't be able to see it when the ball skips off the table and hits the receiver. The more we try to limit stuff, the more we stifle creativity and return the hobby to the stone age. How about banning those 1st run Proline bases that are so hard to get? They give a huge advantage to coaches, right? I see lots of advantages gained by custom figures with arms up, out and forwards....I say ban them and only allow the Fab 5....and the list goes on. I don't like boat bases because they are hard to stop....ban them. Ban those cover corners too....they are so hard to beat. I hate it when my guy gets tackled by the rear or side of a defender's base....let's ban that too and allow only FOB tackling. I really hate that the defender gets to reposition all his backfield guys in an audible....and I only get one move to react. It is so hard to push defenders that weigh 4.0 grams, let's limit everyone to 3.2 grams. God no, we can't have people frankensteining bases....Heaven forbid that this hobby evolves.... WAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listen, the great coaches are still great. The best players of the game still keep winning, despite the new rules and new equipment. What was it that Bum Phillips said about Shula, "He can beat you with his'n and then turn around and beat you with your'n." I don't think the "perceived" advantages to be gained from a new piece of gear are really anything more than "perceived" advantages, especially if anyone can get the product. If the field gets leveled a little and more folks in fact are competitive...is that a bad thing? Heck...maybe people might stick with the hobby and play a little longer if they aren't everybody's homecoming game every year????? Focus on having some fun and not about winning and proving who is best all the time. Rant off. Last edited by FrustratedFinFan : 10-18-2010 at 10:11 PM. |
