Default Tim Tebow Watch and Things I Would...

love to see in 2011.

I finally got my wish to see Tim Tebow play! It's amazing how I could even like this guy but if you know his history and his character, you could understand why and wish this young man much success.

Give my wife, Rose, a call and she will lay the Tim Tebow story out for you to understand what he does from a service perspective.

Anyhow, he played against my second favorite team, 'Da Raiders. It's one of those bittersweet moments because at the end of the day, you still want your team to win. Well, the Raiders won and Jason Campbell played well enough to get the victory but Tebow performed pretty good.

Some people say, he is not an NFL quarterback. We can probably say that about 80% of the QBs in the league (if it was our standard). Although some critics say he's not one, he did have on that Broncos uniform. Also, he started the party off with a 40 yard TD run (against an NFL team). He goes 8 - 16 50.0 - 138 1 TD and 78 yards rushing on 8 carries and 1 TD. This is from a guy who many discounted as an NFL QB!

Now, I do understand this is just 1 game but he will get better. Like any young QB, he will have highs and lows but I may have to go out and get me a Broncos jersey just because of this guy! My VOL brethren and sisters may hate me for that but this is one guy I am definitely glad to see starting. They waited too late to give him an opportunity.

Also, in 2011, please Vikings, get rid of Favre and bring in McNabb. I felt with the combination of Childress and Favre-drama, it ruined any chance of a championship run. Webb is a good understudy (not ready but more talented than T. Jackson) and McNabb just needs the right skilled players and the Vikes could make a run at the title provided the Vikes go after him.

Reg, when I think about all the guys that were similar in style to Tebow, and never got a serious chance to play in the league (McPherson, Graves, etc.), I wonder how this guy got picked in the first round. Clearly most GM's felt this guy was too much of a project to draft that high, and he would have fallen out of the first round, had McDaniels not picked him. I told the whole world when that pick was made that McDaniels would get fired before he ever got a chance to develop the kid. You can't draft on emotion in this league--It will get you fired.

As for McNabb, we as fans, don't get to see these players Mon-Sat. We don't know what these guys do to prepare, or how well they practice. For Andy Reid to trade him to a division rival spoke volumes--he must have felt Don was done. And now Shanahan has come to the same conclusion (although he didn't have to embarrass the guy). Same with Randy Moss. For all these teams to give up on him, there must be something we don't see, that the GMs do see, to make these guys expendable. They must be done. Just my opinion.
