Default UCONN Huskies

No.....not the more nationally known men and women's hoop teams....but, the 25th ranked ( AP ) Football Team.

UCONN moved up to Division 1-A in 2000, and in just 4 years went to a Bowl Game - winning the Motor City Bowl in 2004....and they are currently off to their best start in school history at 8-2.

I thought it would be fun to paint and detail UCONN as my first college team....especially with all that they have going on with their uniforms. For ex, the numbers are an unique font, the neck lines that they have with the small "C" in front, their blue socks & pants stripe - (the pants aren't silver, but a "shiny" grey - I dry-brushed Delta Creamcoat's Pearls over a light grey paint ).

For the Player Jersey names - I used names of Connecticut cities/towns.

Thanks for looking -

Gerty, Can you give us a rundown on how you took the photos. Distance from subject, flash, no flash, type of camera, settings, lighting etc... So many times we have GREAT figures but BAD photos and those that you are showing are perfect. We all need a little education on this subject.

I also noticed the faces. Are those decaled or painted? They look great. Face decals....hmmm...anybody ever try that?

Default Pics

Hey Wierdwolf - thank you so much for the kind words !

As far as me giving camera advice.........that's a scarry thought !!

I enjoy the great pics that are taken from members of this forum - and it's an area that I'm constantly working at when trying to take closeups - I'm open to all and any advice !

I have a standard SONY Cyber-Shot.........which has a Macro Adjustment that's to be used when shooting close-ups ( just a press of a button puts it in 'Macro Mode" )...........and it seems to work best with my zoom set all the way to the "wide" side ( not zoomed-in for ex ). This allows me to get just 2 to 3" inches away from the subject. The important thing is the lighting - for these pics, I try to take them when I get the most natural light in a lighted room. The Cyber-Shot also has "Scene Selection Modes" - which you choose by turning a dial in the front of the camera - I seem to have some luck when turning the dial to, "High Sensitivity" mode ( "for shooting without flash in low-light to reduce blur." )

Yikes - I'm starting to sound like I know what I'm doing....I'm certainly not a photographer !!

Hope that helps some .........

Oh - those are "eye" decals from Mike Beal.....one sheet will last you a long time !

Thanks again -
