Default The ideal time

I was just curious, what do you think is the ideal amount of time that a game should take to play? In real life, most NFL and college games seem to take about 3 hours. Is this too long for a MF game? When I was first playing, my friend and I would use 10 play quarters. An average game would take us about 1 1/2 hours. Then we upped it to 12 plays, then finally 15 plays. We found that we could get through a half, go out for some burgers for lunch and return to finish the game in about 3 hours. I see in some leagues that there appears to be a 2 hour limit. In tourneys the games go alot faster, understandable considering the number of games that must be played in that venue. So I just wondered, what is your ideal time that you like to play a game in? Does it make a difference whether you're playing a tourney game, league game or just for fun game? I think 3 hours is about the longest time it should take, though the time sure seems to fly and it doesn't feel like it's taking that long to play. I'm thinking most guys would say about 2 hours??? One hour just seems like it's too fast to really get fair number of plays in. So, what do you think?

3 hours is about right. That's the maximum amount of time I can stand getting rolled over by another team.

Default 3 Hours Max

Anything longer doesn't make sense to me personally. Especially if you are trying to get in 2 games and travelling some distance to do it. You are right - time does fly by.

I personally like to play longer games. I had a beef in MPFL early this season that the clock was running too long between plays. A rule change was later issued and our games now run at about 3 hours (with 25 minute quarters and a 45 second clock).

The longer the game the better so long as the opponents are well prepared and ready to coach their teams. We saw a great Super Bowl between Burgess (CAR) and Mike Carr (CLE). The game was about 3 hours but the strategy and coaching on the field made for an exciting contest.

So my answer is longer quality games. Let the final game stats be your guide as far as how you tailor your periods/games, etc.
