United we stand-Divided we fall...
this weigh thing that is on going now just goes to show how far we are apart.
we can't even agree on a weigh. a lot of you say you don't like going to MIGGLE but least they have us all on one level playing feild of 3.2. reggie and dirk set the first 3.2, but then reggie and others started making men that look more real but weigh more. so let's raise the weigh. but whatabout the new coaches and kids just coming in or getting back in. or the coaches that can't afford to buy the men that you make? as it is now you can't go to certain tournaments because of weigh. if you want to pull this altogher we as a whole need to take out the PRIDE AND SELFISHNESS and reason with everyone to come up with a common weigh. some say 3.2 to 4.0. so split it to 3.6. at 4.0 you are not far from the unlimited weigh that is played in some parts. if we are not careful, thats is were we are heading. look at the big picture. just my thoughts on the matter!!! see all in DETROIT!!!!!!!!!! It's all good my man. I don't see the discussion on weight tearing anything apart. There has been some good feedback from everyone on this. We are blessed right now to have the choice of play weights, we are faced with a lot of great choices in figures that are available right now. This is a good thing in my opinion, newbies, returning coaches, and those who don't have extra money to spend on the various figures that are available, can always fall back on the fab 5, base 'dem boys up and let 'em ride, ya know?!
If they come in at 3.2, they can easily be brought up to weight. There are a lot of good posts about adding weight to a figure. It's all about returning coaches and newbies getting their skill set on and being taught from the more experienced, "fellowshipping" if you will. If I have a smoking 4.0 or unlimited team and I am going against a newbie or returning coach, I would glady put my bad boys in their locker room and get out my Miggle ironman squad. Now onto another train of thought, as a matter of fact, a custom figure based up at 3.8 grams for instance, could he be at a slight disadvantage if going against a Miggle bigman that had weight added to him to equal 3.8 grams? Those experienced in tweaking and that have an understanding of base/figure physics may be able to use the ability to add weight to a figure where they need it, thus making for a more effective tweak, in turn making a better running, more powerful player than the custom figure at 3.8 with no weight added. I think that everyone has agreed to disagree on the weight issue, At this point you can not simply state a weight in grams and make that the standard. We can all apply weight rules to our leagues and tourneys as needed and agreed upon by participants. Please read my post on that thread, 3.2 ain't going now where anytime soon. I am also from the old school, where they say you run what you brung! If I show up to a gunfight with a knife, the next time I go to that gunfight, guess what I'm gonna have?!

Since My Name Was Brought Into ...
the mix Mike, I will respond.
Broncoman (Mike), I don't think the hobby is divided. I think if anything, it is more united than it ever has been. The weight issue really is not a big deal. As a matter of fact, it's really small. Like all the other issues that divide us, this can easily be fixed by what is voted on in your league. Now if you have a problem with how things go in the vote, that's a problem that you and your leaguemates have to iron out. But I think coaches are playing happily throughout the country, whether it be with a 3.2 gram system or 4.0 gram system. For example, the GLEFL plays at 3.2 grams and they are very happy. The LAEFL plays at 3.2 grams and are very happy. The DFW plays at 4.0 grams and are very happy. Just like the different rule set, you visit the place where caters to what you want to play. If you think we are ever going to have total harmony of one rule set whether it be Shootout System, Strategy Divider, Rules 2000, etc., you must not be doing your homework. Since the beginning of time, people have learned to coexist for the betterment of mankind. This is no different! The question I would have for you, who at every turn, seem to be a skeptic of 4.0 grams. Have you ever played under that weight scale? Have you played under it for any length of time? Do you honestly have a team that is 4.0 grams? If you can in earnest say that you have, you argue this point with factual information. But if you don't have such a team, how can you with all good conscious argue the facts. This subject of weight is no different than boiled vs. non-boiled, TTQB vs. Pass Simulation, Clocks vs. Plays, Custom vs. Stock, etc. The tournaments will set the standards that they wish to play under and all that enjoy those options will attend those tournaments. Now, at least you have choices. I know the differences in the 3.2 and 4.0 gram teams. There are vast differences but many similarities. If both teams play at the same weight, it makes no difference, the coach that does the best job of execution will win the game. Broncoman, I understand the investment you make electric football equipment. I made it too! Probably more than most have and would ever make. My investments I thought were for the benefit of the game and for 13 years on these sites, I have fought for changes when others would sit idly by just going with status quo. Miggle stamped helmets came about because I wrote on their board once about the "lack of quality and that EFLers were zombies willing to settle for anything". I got a letter from Miggle about my post but they later changed their helmet teams. No one bothered to complain that they had to spend more for those. I know change is scary but no one is personally telling you that you have to change! That's your prerrogative. It should not divide you and I from being friends. We still will be 'boys. If you had a tournament in Vegas and I found it appealed to what I like, then I definitely would come. It's a matter of dollars and sense for me now, not 3.2 or 4.0. Reg |

I am just voicing my opinion on the whole picture. as you said about bases and other rules that are different in leagues and tournaments across the land. i remember about the helmets and miggle. a lot of your ideals are in place right know. just trying to get everyone on the same page. change always come in time. and when they do your name will appear because you are always leading the way.[smile].

Question: Are You Allowed To....
Take A Figure That Ways 3.2 with it's Base, and put some golf tape (or metal tape), cardboard, or whatever between the base and figure to make 4.0. In other words, can we use whatever we want to get a figure up to weight. In the NYEFL were allowed to use the items i named to get our figures up to weight, which is 3.2.

Mike no offense..........
......because you know I love ya, but you are definitely against the 4.0 rule scheme, because you know the speed will be turned up and the heat will be coming and you can't handle it. I made the statement because I for one think it is easier to add weight then to take it off. Mike you have guys with overweight men all day in the LAEFL bro, so why not make it a standard. One thing I have said and I will say it again is that I for one was against the 4.0 weight scale, hands down.
I voted against it in the LAEFL. Now that I have witnessed and experieneced the way trhe men perform, it will be hard for me to come play in the LAEFL especially with the way some guys play and turn the biard speed down for an advantage. One other thing that has me in love with the DFWEFL is the way they run the clocks. Once the play has ended they count down 5,4,3,2,1 and then they start the clocks. This way it keep the offensive team from STALLING. Which is a tactic used by many in the LAEFL. So change is good. I like the 4.0 scale because it give balance and it enhances the gameplay. Other then that Mike I will still bust yo ********** this year in the LAEFL. DOOMSDAY, to answer your question, YES!! I have some under my mans platform as we speak!! |

RJ, heat....
is no problem, i adjust to all ways of playing the game. your are right that overweight teams do pop up from time to time, till they get caught, trying any thing to win.
just trying to get EAST TO WEST on same page on one level playing field. CAN ALL FEEL ME. BRONCOMAN |

I feel you!
Has anyone ever played a 3.2 team against a 4.0 team and took notes on differences? We need research! Data! Mathematicians! A good coach is a good coach and will win regardless, methinks. And cheaters when caught sh'd be 'shunned' for a year like the Amish do, let 'em play with themselves, I mean Solitaire , and think about what they've done and all. Heads hung in shame, dig? |
