Default Custom Figures: What and whose inspire you?

Hey lovers of the hobby: we all have areas of the hobby that we enjoy. Playing the game for me is one of the best. Painting teams and figures is another. all the areas of EF weather tweaking, board making, decal applications or any area that I may have not mentioned bring us all great joy and serene pleasure. But my true love is custom figures. Thats my thing and it has been since I got back into the Hobby in 04. Reggie,Larry Walker, Chris Robinson, Terry Popham, Don Smith, Jimbo D.C. Smith,Brad Collins, J Boy, Rich Parks , Mike Guttman, Dewayne Jennings all these men I admired for there skill in custom figures, although thier styles in custom figures are all different there ability to bring small plastic figures to life made me throw my hat in the ring. Now when I began to speak about custom figs, some were down others weren't. Reggie taught me that a team and its figures were atheletes and that figures along with proper and good tweaking a custom figure could make an impact during play. As i began my journey into the world of custom figs I knew I needed information. I downloaded and printed out every thing I could on customs Pics print everything I could get my hands on I contacted these men some to the point of bugging them to death lol. But I GOT WHAT I NEEDED. I then began to DO MY OWN THING AND GOT PRETTY GOOD. I SEE THE FOR U TO HATES AND TVS CHACHI AND SO MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE TAKEN CUSTOMS TO NEW AND EXCITING LEVELS. WHOSE CUSTOM FIGURE WORK DO U ADMIRE. JUMP ON FELLAS KEEP CHOPPING AND CRAZY GLUEING WE HAVE ATHELETES TO CREATE.

BE BLESSED.

Thumbs up Inspirational Works...

Lock,

I'm strictly speaking from a custom figure point of view.
Even though I don't own them all... everybody's work inspires me. I remember when only a couple of guys did custom figures. Now we have a plethora of artistic coaches whose work is common place in today's market. I admire anyone who takes a chance in trying to create something new.

Works I currently own:

Jayboy Combs
Chris Robinson
Bill Porche
Dewayne Jennings
YOURS (Lock)
John Wright
Chris Fields (513)
Reginald Rutledge
Rick Garrison (bluesman280)
Brad Collins (Wellington)
Chris Stacey (Refs from back in the day)
Mike 710 (Coach Tom Landry x2)
Chachi (Coach Landry)
Mike Guttman

Works I wish I owned:

Bruce Watts
Damon Lucas
Eddie Vaughn
Terry Popham
Larry Walker
Jeff Priest
Kelvin Lomax
Pat Morris
Michigan Joe
and anybody else who's out there fighting the good fight.

The bad thing about owning everybody's work is that I'd probably be broke, and homeless by now. But a man can dream!!!

Peace,

OldSchool

Sorry Biglock...I'm going to use your post as a shameless plug for the upcoming MFCA Custom Contest. Only 1 entry so far but I know many who are working on theirs.

Biglock, Good to have you back on. You always bring thought provoking items to the table.

I got to throw Geno in there also. He put up a nice looking custom coach of KU coach Mangino (The Kansas Biglock) recently.

You got that right Wolfie. I forgot about Geno and my man Will Travers. I probably forgot about others as well, but in my defense... I am getting old.

Welcome back Lock!

Man you have got me going! There are a lot of custom figure guys out there now who do great work. But these are the guys who inspired me the most and actually made me want to try to do it myself.

Back in the day I was inspired most by Larry Walker, Chet Haptonstall, and Chris Robinson. Especially Chris and Chet because they actually shared some of their techniques with me.

I have recently been re-inspired by 5-13 Studios. His work with that dry brushing technique is sick! But The first person I heard about dry brushing was D. Jennings so I gotta give him luv too.

Like I said there are a lot of other/new cats who are puttin' in work but these are the cats whos work actually got me to try it my self.

i didnt see my man ONE2WATCH on any list.
He's got guys that swivel in the torso. crazy!
He displayed them at the convention - real nice.

inspired me to come up with a Tony Dorsett that extends a stiff arm any time a Steeler figure is going to tackle him in the front of the base.
with that, THE CUSTOM CONTEST IS ALL MINE !! AHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahaha
