What can we do?
Not to long ago there was a post that said MF/EF was dead. It made me think, What can we do to make this hobby grow? Right now I have no ideals but it would be cool to see what ideals others may have.

Hi Andre,
I am not sure if you read all of the replies but I seriously doubt if EF/MF is dead. Have no fear the hobby is very much alive and well. Coach J |

I'm not saying it is dead, but I do feel MF/EF should be the #1 hobby at least in the USA

It appears to continue to grow among men who played it as kids years/decades ago. I think the challenge is to get kids involved in order for it to truly flourish in the future.

Hi ANdre,
Thanks for your clarification. Trust me I understand where you are coming from and our hobby should be #1. However, as you know this is the age of high tech computer games and kids, and many adults as well, are into the computer sports games like "You Know What". I am referring to Madden when I say "You Know What". Fortunately people like us will make sure the hobby is around for a LONG LONG TIME and will always be #1. Coach J |

An idea!
What I've learned in the month and a half since I rejoined the hobby is that the hobbyist falls into at least 3 areas, collectors, competitors (those that love playing), and creators (those that customize). Many fall into all three areas. I thing MF needs to market to those that may fall into any or all of those areas...you know...target marketing. A newspaper article peeked my interest and led me to the Miggle convention in Michigan...and here I am today. A well placed article in magazines, newspapers and websites could go a long way in getting the word out. I've learned on this forum of the many tournaments and leagues around the country. Does the general public know about them? What about advertising some serious customizing competitions? Also, get the kids involved. One of the great things at the convention I went to were the families that where there. This needs to continue. Someone on another thread mentioned hosting games at local sports bars. I think that is a great place for PR but why not add having them at local youth centers, exhibitions for the Boy/Girl Scouts, Junior football leagues, etc. And of course, last but not least, word of mouth. Tell a friend about it.

One of the things that the MFCA is working on offering are custom trading cards with a photo of your best MF creation on it. On the back would be info on your league, logo, contacts and a small plug for the MFCA. These would look just like football trading cards that we are all used to. I have used them for years as Weirdwolf and have actually handed out well over 10,000 of these. It just occurred to me the other day after looking at some of the new customs that these could work very well to promote the hobby.
These would work well for leagues and or individuals and puts MF right in prospective coaches and hobbyists hands with a direct way to reach your league. What do you guys think of this idea? 1000 cards with full color fronts runs around $70.00 including shipping to your door. 2500 of them runs $130 and would last a lifetime. Full color on both sides runs about $10 more per 1000. The design would be done for free with your photo and info.
