Default Greatest RB of alltime

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHnTt...eature=related

Didn't have 4 OL starting in the probowl at one time, didn't have a bull at FB blocking for him, singleback offense with the worst OL in history.

I gotta agree with you there!

There have been a lot of great backs...and they all deserve their places in the HALL. But I think Barry was in a class by himself.

In just that video alone...look at the number of first tackles he breaks...many of them at or behind the line of scrimmage!

And his ability to cut back and then hit full acceleration in the complete opposite direction...just two steps later...it's almost physically impossible!

I think he had a couple thousand yards rushing in just that video clip!

The two greatest running backs of all time had something in common...

They were both born in Wichita, Kansas

Barry Sanders and Gale Sayers.

Default pure talent yes

yes sir barry was a pure back, unfortunately in his stats alot of negative yardage, but his one yard runs are better to watch than some backs twenty yard runs.

Default Pound for Pound Best Ever!

Mr. Revels you at right. You notice how he had to dodge the first two defensive players on almost every line. Image if he had a line.

Default Great RB

Barry was one of the greats! Had he played for a team that did not use a gimmick offense (run and shoot) and played in a more traditional setting, would he have been the same player??
would he have been better??

There have been plenty of RB that had great careers and put up big numbers and there have been some great RB that had their careers cut short, but the Greatest runner in NFL history was Jim Brown FIRST! He set the benchmark for all to follow........

You beat me to the punch K-Lo because I always put Jim Brown #1 when the question is asked who was the greatest RB. As a matter of fact I think Jim Brown is the greatest player in NFL history. Getting back to RB's Barry is a VERY close second. Emmitt Smith may have the all time record for most yards but if Barry and Emmitt changed uniforms then Barry ends his career with close to, if not, 25,000 yards. Thanks for the videos Norbert.

Only one...Barry Sanders! He's unlike any other we've EVER seen. Only one came from that mold. They didn't have an O-line that could generate a push to give him a standard 3 yards on any given play, every yard he made was from his cat-like ability to avoid defenders (the 3 years before before Barry came to Detroit the team's rushers gained a lowly 3.0-3.5 yards per carry with very little total yardage). I watched every game, never missed a play of his. He single handedly breathed life into a dismal franchise. Some critics say he had too many 0 yard runs but the fact is that he worked from a line of scrimmage that was usually 4 yards deep into the backfield. He was the most keyed back in the history of the game, requiring all new game plans and schemes- every game, every season. His ability to run with defenses keyed in on him even allowed Scott Mitchell of all people to throw for over 4,000+ yards. Have you ever seen another Barry Sanders? I thought it was going to be Warrick Dunn- nope. He superioriority to any back in regards to elusiveness is probably the largest gap in a skill that we've ever witnessed in the NFL.

Thanks for the YouTube site Norbert, it makes my day to watch that one. I can't wait to show my son tonight.
Joe

Default Jim Brown

1960's, he was ***6-2, 232 pounds and could run***, 1960's remember, most cats were slow and out of shape,......well (compared to todays guys), today.......LB's run 4.4 in the 40, barry made them all look like high school players, 6-2, 232 pounds was onheard of back then at running back, he overpowered most of them, just look at the clips of him, he was bigger then some of the cats tryin to tackle him, put him in his prime with todays guys, (shakin my head), now put Barry in his prime in the old days when defenders were slow.
