Default BROWN BASES - How come.......

How come i dont see them around much and have heard of them not being allowed in many leagues? i think they were produced over a short time span, so there arent many out there, could that be it?

Scott (or anyone),
what are brown bases good for, do they offer any special advantage or have any special characteristics? This is one base I have not seen.

Default Short Supply

These bases were offered in Playtime Toys go 'round with the EF genre after Tudor and before Miggle, I believe. The game came with blue and red "gorilla" figures, I think. I don't have any, so maybe someone else will clarify.

I think the only reason they aren't allowed is because of their short supply. I say let's count 'em all up and divy them at The SWB. That way we all have some and we can stop excluding them.

It was actually PLAYTIME monday night Football. Yes the figures were blue and red but NOT gorrilla figures. The Brown bases all weigh 1.3 to a heavy 1.478 my heaviest. Hope this helps. There seems to be a misconception about what a Gorilla figure is! I need to post pictures! The board was battery operated.

i have a few of them. i used a couple of them on my offensive line with proline dials. they seem to keep their strength pretty well. i also have a brown base on a tight end, and i used one of the brown dials with an orange base as a safety.

Guys,

Browns bases were big time for a while. They were viewed as a stronger base made with a consistant plastic. As Geno pointed out, they were heavier and I'm sure that helped their strength. The nice thing about them is they do a good job of maintaining their tweak. But the bases produced today are equal or better. Mark Klingbeil should reply here as he and his brother had tons of them.
