Is the old traditional front push EF/MF style dead?

Hey my EF/MF family:
I have been thinking on the constant evolution of our hobby, on the old Miggle board we use to have great discussions on how evoloution of EF/MF may squash out more traditional forms of the game, i have realized through me working with the kids that starting simple was best, i want to implement a 4.0 style when the kids get a strong grasp of the game, what do u guys think, have we moved past the EF/MF days of traditional EF/MF style play?

We as advanced coaches in this hobby, it seems, may have moved past some of the more traditional aspects of the game, but the tradition is still there, it's the core we all build around. We improve things, change things, challenge things and have ended up where we are today.

Like any hobby/sport/activity, there are different levels to which they can be played at.

The traditional style of MF/EF needs to be kept alive by all of us, we need to see to that, for as you mentioned, that is the starting point for our youth.

Never forget where you came from, even though you may be miles and miles away from that place today.

Biglock, I think that you are going to have traditionalist in this hobby that will continue to carry on with the front push and other traditional forms of the game. I do think that as the years pass more of those traditions will fall by the wayside. That is a part of ANY kind of evolution. Look at the changes that have happened since many of us began playing it in the 60/70/80's. I've returned a few months ago after over 30 years and fell in love with the hobby all over again. There are some of the old ways that I know I would probably not enjoy today. There are some traditions today that I think need to evolve, improve, or go by the way of the dodo bird. There are some new traditions (at least new to me) that I'm struggling to deal with...but I work at it. I imagine that as this hobby is passed on to the kids that you work with (which I applaud you for by the way) they will come up with their own ways of doing things that will make today's coaches (even the advanced ones) shake their heads. So is the way of evolution. The beautiful thing is one or more guys/gals can get together and play EF/MF anyway they wish. In that spirit you'll find traditions either carry on or changed...for better or worse.
