Dixie League
My 1st dixie league play yesterday was a blast. Even though getting blown out early in my 1st game against that "Old Slick Cat" Lavell Shelton I was able to bounce back settle down and win the rest of my games. Congrats go to Beenutt for a outstanding display of fellowship and fairplay. I enjoyed myself meeting all the class act players and sitting down talking to Old School and drooling over his smooth looking Cleveland Browns. Looking forward to the Playoff rounds in a few months.
PS, my back is killing me right now.

Recommendation
We might not take the hits anymore, but we gotta keep our core muscles in shape just like back in the day! Knee lifts while you're sitting down, toe-touches, alternate knee-to-elbow, crunches, etc are IMPORTANT if you wanna survive playing a marathon Season like the Dixie League and any Tourney you go to. If YOU don't prepare yourself, your team can only do so much.

Dixie league
Just got back last night playing my games. My first game was a learning Experience playing against a coach that took me to school on patience and never count your self out. This coach played me like he was the teacher and I was the student. He told me my came was good, but I need to know how to close out a game. The game was tied 14-14 with 6 play left I had the ball
he shut me down 4 play while getting update on the draft from his son on the phone. This coach never worried, He scored a 60 yard TD with two plays left to beat me 21-14. Don Smith (aka) Old School, man thank for all your knowledge an advice, you made me realize to be greate at this sport hobby you have to learn from experience coaches off this game. Thanks man see you at Beltsville Bash . DSEFL start our first league play May 4 !! Check us out we just receive four more coaches from the guy number you gave Ghost Rider. |

I also played in my first Dixie League yesterday. We had 23 coaches and our Commissioner, Beenutt, in the house. What a fun day. Playing four games game to back to back really was a challenge on the legs, feet and back.
I can not thank Beenutt, Joel and others who put such an effort into making the day great for the rest of us. The food was fantastic, the fellowship was incredible, and the games were very competitive. I met so many great coaches that I can not mention them all, but one thing that I learned is that we are all brothers in this hobby. No matter where we came from, what our background is, our occupation, race, religion, whatever, we are one together. Everyone had a great time and everyone showed true sportsmanship and class all day, in victory and in defeat. The NC State Wolfpack finished the day 2-2 and I look forward to the Championships in July. Thank you for great games, Jeff Cameron, Benne Gibson, Joel Pritchard and David Nichols. Thank you all again. See you in July. Last edited by ChetDakota : 04-28-2008 at 01:43 PM. |

a great event
All I can say is WOW. Thanks to all 23 coaches for supporting the Dixie League! Lavell and I dreamed about having an event where all of the coaches from the south get together at one time! It happened on April 26. A special thanks to Joel Pritchard for taking it upon himself to take care of all the food - it was awesome!
Congratulations to all the coaches especially the divisional winners: Lavell Shelton, Adrian Baxter, Don Smith, Joel Pritchard, Brian Redmond and Gary Pate. Also, three coaches went undefeated - Joel Pritchard, Lavell Shelton and Don Smith! We heard college fight songs all day long - that South Carolina fight song must have been on a loop - it seemed like we played that song every five minutes. We also heard alot of Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. Rocky Top was of course the crowd favorite! Geno, we voted in the new QB's! Expect some more orders soon. We also voted in a fumble rule. It is now deemed a fumble when a defensive player knocks over the ball carrier. The ball is automatically recovered by the defensive player and he can be pivoted and may advance the ball. Coaches, remember July 12 is the regular season and championship. Here are some photos - enjoy.
