For me it's a hobby. I don't have alot of time to spend going to tournaments or shows. Hopefully I will one day. Job is too demanding!

Default it's a game that works the brain for me

I define a sport that is something that requires athleticism, AND strategy, like definition #1.....the only thing that sweats on me when I play this game is my arm pits!

But according to #3 I guess many could see this as a sport

the definitions are:

1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
2. a particular form of this, esp. in the out of doors.
3. diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime.

dallcow4life28,

I would have said hobby, but my thoughts are that it is more a sport. MF is starting to be very similar to the NFL. Great on field action, good coaches, great athletes, player development, training camp, great rivalries and off season drama.

MF has moved up a notch or two over the last several years. And there is still more to come.

My $.02, its a hobby and fellowship building. As you get older there are many more demands, spouse, children, job, etc., and also its not as easy to meet new people, because of those demands, i.e. friends in which you share a common interest. Well MF/EF surely gives you the means to meet new people and thats one of the things that I really enjoy about the hobby. Not to mention gameday and the preparation for gameday.

I see it as a game, with the figure collecting, customizing, painting, etc. being a hobby.

Default MF/EF is....

...a hobby. It's beloved by most here but it's a hobby none-the-less.

Default I started this thread because....

I personally feel that we should stop calling MF a hobby. There is a certain stigma attached to the word, in my opinion. I feel that until we drop the word hobby--we are holding our sport back, somewhat. This game deserves mass appeal. It's just my opinion, but something I feel strongly about.
Thanks for the input, fellas.

A hobby. I enjoy painting the figures and playing games, which I have
yet to do, solitaire or with my youngest son. It's something I do to
relax.
